Union Membership Exclusivity Behavior

Dayforce automatically end-dates existing open-ended union records when you add or edit a union record, depending on the configuration of the Membership Exclusivity setting, as described in the following table.

Union exclusivity logic
Scenario Dayforce Behavior

An employee has one union in Dayforce: Union A.

Union A is open-ended and non-exclusive.

Union B, a new non-exclusive union, is added to the employee.

  • Union A = No
  • Union B = No

Dayforce allows both records to exist concurrently. No auto-end logic is triggered.

Union B, a new exclusive union, is added to the employee.
