Overview of Incident Types and Groups

When users create an HR incident, they need to select an incident type to describe what it’s for, such as safety and health, customer complaints, or poor attendance. You can configure the list of available incident types in the HR Incident Types tab in HR Admin > HR Incidents,

Dayforce contains the following system incident types:

Safety and Health: This is a generic incident type for recording safety and health incidents.
Safety and Health – OSHA Recordable: (US only) Incidents with this type can be pulled into the OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 reports of Dayforce. Incidents submitted through the Safety & Health (USA) form are assigned this type by default.

When you configure an incident type, you need to assign it to an incident group. Incident groups are a way of categorizing incident types. They are visible only in configuration and not when users add incidents. You can configure incident groups in the Incident Groups tab of HR Admin > HR Incidents.

Dayforce comes with the system incident group Safety and Health Group. The two system incident types, Safety and Health – OSHA Recordable and Safety and Health, are assigned to this system group. You can also assign custom incident types to this group.

Incident groups define where an incident type can be created, as follows:

Incident types that are assigned to the system Safety and Health Group are available only in the Employment > Safety and Health Incidents screen of People. This keeps safety and health related incidents separate from other types.
Incident types that are assigned to the custom incident groups are available only in the Employment > HR Incidents screen of People. For example, if you create the incident type Late for Shift and assign it to the custom incident group Attendance, it’s available in this screen.

Note: During configuration, you should create incident groups first. Then, when you create an incident type you can assign it an incident group.
