By default, an employee is assigned to a pay zone based on their active primary work assignment. You can view an employee's work assignment in the Work > Work Assignments screen in People, along with the employee's related pay grade details.
You can associate a pay zone directly to an employee to override the pay zone applied by the work assignment or work location override to ensure that the employee's compensation can be applied correctly. For example, a virtual employee or an employee who was onboarded using a form that doesn’t include the Pay Zone Override field might require a manual pay zone override in People.
Note: You can also override employee pay zones using the HR Import.
To override an employee's pay zone:
- Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Work > Work Assignments.
- In the Pay Information section, select a pay zone in the Pay Zone Override drop-down list.
- Click Save.
