The following is a list of options that you can select in the Mapping Object drop-down list of rules in HR Admin > Employee Data Mapping Rules.

Attendance Policy |
The attendance policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Attendance policies are used to define attendance management elements like incident types, grades, and violations. They are configured in Pay Setup > Attendance. |
Average Daily Hours |
The average daily hours assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People This number represents the average number of hours the employee works daily and can be used in overtime calculations. In place of a cross-reference code, enter the number in hours. |
Clock Authority |
The clock authority configured in the Work > Badge screen of People. This control determines whether an employee can override the clock when their clock entries don’t pass validation. |
Clock Devices Group |
The clock device group configured in the Work > Clock Group Assignment screen of People. This control determines which clocks an employee can use to clock in and out with. |
Culture / Language |
The culture assigned to an employee’s user account in System Admin > User. This is the language Dayforce shows when that user account logs in. Note: Dayforce assigns cultures only to eligible new hires. The user accounts of existing employees aren’t assigned a culture, even if they qualify for data mapping rules that specify a culture in the Mappings section. |
Default Department |
The department associated with the default job assignment the employee’s worked time is charged against by default, assigned in the Work > Default Labor screen of People. To define default job assignments, both a default department and default job must be configured. See Configure Default Labor Metrics. Note: Departments are shown in this list only if they’re associated with a job assignment in Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments. |
Default Docket |
The docket that the employee’s worked time is charged against by default, assigned in the Work > Default Labor screen of People. See Configure Default Labor Metrics. |
Default Job |
The job associated with the default job assignment that the employee’s worked time is charged against by default, assigned in the Work > Default Labor screen of People. To define default job assignments, both a default department and default job must be configured. See Configure Default Labor Metrics. |
Default Pay Code |
The default pay code the employee’s worked time is charged against by default, assigned in the Work > Default Labor screen of People. See Configure Default Labor Metrics. |
Default Project |
The default project the employee’s worked time is charged against by default, assigned in the Work > Default Labor screen of People. See Configure Default Labor Metrics. |
Document Management Security Group |
The document security group assigned to the employee in the Security Settings screen of People. Document security groups define which types of documents a user can access. |
Eligible for Dayforce Wallet |
Corresponds to the Eligible for Dayforce Wallet checkbox that is shown in the Dayforce Wallet tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen of People. When you select this option, the ShortName-XRefCode drop-down list shows the Yes and No options. Note: Dayforce Wallet is available only for Canadian, UK, and US employees. |
Eligible for On-Demand Pay |
Corresponds to the Eligible for On-Demand Pay checkbox that is shown in the Dayforce Wallet tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen of People. When you select this option, the ShortName-XRefCode drop-down list shows the Yes and No options. Note: Dayforce Wallet is available only for Canadian, UK, and US employees. |
Eligible for Pre-Tax Tips |
(US only) Corresponds to the Eligible for Pre-Tax Tips checkbox that is shown in the Dayforce Wallet tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen of People. When you select this option, the ShortName-XRefCode drop-down list shows the Yes and No options. |
Employee Group |
The employee group assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Employee groups are used to organize employees into groups for reporting and scheduling purposes and are configured in HR Admin > Employee Group Admin. |
Employee Property |
An employee property assigned in the Employment > Employee Properties screen of People. Employee properties are used to create additional fields or pieces of information that can be assigned to the organization's employees if there are pieces of information not tracked in Dayforce that need to be. See Employee Property Setup. Selecting this value enables the Retain Existing Data checkbox in the Retain Existing Data column. Select this checkbox for employee properties that you don’t want the mapping rule to update when an employee already has a record for that same property. This prevents the value in the record from being overwritten if it’s different from the value set in the mapping rule. See Retain Existing Values for Employee Properties. |
Entitlement Policy |
The entitlement policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Entitlement policies are used to group all of the entitlements a set of employees can potentially qualify for. Entitlement policies are configured in Pay Setup > Entitlements. |
Holiday Group |
The holiday group assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Holiday groups link the holidays defined in Dayforce together so that users can assign them to the appropriate employees all at once. Holiday groups are configured in Pay Setup > Holiday Group. |
Monthly Hours |
The average hours stipulated in an employee’s contract or agreement. Use the Monthly Hours field when an employee’s monthly hours of work are not standard (that is, 52 weeks per year or 4 weeks per month). Otherwise, use the Normal Weekly Hours field. |
Normal Weekly Hours |
The normal weekly hours assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. This number represents the average number of hours the employee works weekly and can be used in overtime calculations. In place of a cross-reference code, enter the number in hours. |
Onboarding Policy |
The onboarding policy assigned to employees (including new hires). Onboarding policies allow you to customize a new hire’s onboarding process to suit their role in the organization. See the Onboarding Guide. |
Pay Class |
The pay class assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Pay classes categorize employees into different groups with different applicable payroll rules and policies. Pay classes are configured in HR Admin > Pay Class. |
Pay Code Group |
The pay code groups assigned to the Current column in the Work > Pay Code Group screen of People. Pay code groups restrict which pay adjustments a manager has access to assign. Pay code groups also specify which pay adjustments can be assigned to an employee, based on the pay codes contained in the group. Pay code groups are configured in Pay Setup > Pay Code Group. |
Pay Group |
The pay group assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Pay groups describe the pay cycle for a group of employees. Pay groups are configured in Pay Setup > Pay Group. |
Pay Policy |
The pay policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Pay policies are used to assign configurable pay rules and qualifiers in Dayforce to appropriate employees so that employees are paid correctly, according to the organization’s policies and business needs. Pay policies are configured in Pay Setup > Pay Policy. |
Pay Type |
The pay type assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Pay types are used to categorize employees into different groups that describe how the employees are paid. Pay types are configured in HR Admin > Pay Type. |
Payroll Policy |
The payroll policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Payroll policies are used to assign earnings and deductions to appropriate employees so that employees’ wages are properly classified and the correct generated earnings and deductions are calculated and applied. Payroll policies are configured in Payroll Setup > Payroll Policies. |
Period Authorization Policy |
The period authorization policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Period authorization policies automatically authorize all days in a pay period, with defined exceptions that specifically unauthorize certain pay summary records. Period authorization policies are configured in Pay Setup > Period Authorization Policy. |
Time Entry Policy |
The time entry policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Time entry policies control what time entry method employees use and, through optional rules and validations that Dayforce applies, shape how employees enter their worked time. Time entry policies are configured in Pay Setup > Time Entry Policy. |
Rate Policy |
The job step policy or base rate policy assigned in the Rate Policy field in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Job step policies consist of configurable job step rules and qualifiers that dictate which job set levels and pay rates are assigned to employees. Base rate policies consist of configurable base rate rules and a qualifier that dictate an employee’s base rate and their progression to other base rate levels. Note: Job step and base rate policies show up in the ShortName-XRefCode drop-down list only if they’re configured with a reference code in Pay Setup > Job Rate and Pay Setup > Base Rate Set, respectively. |
Role |
The role assigned to a user in the Properties tab of System Admin > User. A user account’s role defines what sections of Dayforce the employee can use. User roles are configured in System Admin > Roles. |
Schedule Change Policy |
The schedule change policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Schedule change policies are used to configure penalties that trigger when managers change an employee’s schedule without a predetermined amount of notice. Schedule change policies are configured in Schedule Setup > Schedule Change Policy. |
Schedule Rule Policy |
The schedule rule policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Schedule rule policies group employees based on any scheduling rulesets you’ve configured, which dictate how they can be scheduled. Schedule rule policies are configured in Schedule Setup > Schedule Rule Policy. |
Seniority Date |
The employee date of seniority. Selecting this option shows the Expression Builder button, which opens the Expression Builder dialog box, where you can create an expression to reset or bridge a seniority date when an employee is rehired. |
Shift Rotation |
The shift rotation assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Shift rotations link shift definitions and labor metrics together in a repeating pattern. Shift rotations are configured in the Shift Rotation tab of Scheduling Plan > Shift Setup. |
Shift Trading Policy |
The shift trading policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Shift trading policies control which employees can make shift trades, swaps, or retrades, and whether they need supervisor approval to do so. Shift trading policies are configured in Schedule Setup > Shift Trading Policy. |
Status |
The status assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. An employee’s status describes whether they’re available for work or why an employee isn’t available. Employment statuses are created in HR Admin > Status. |
Time Off Policy |
The time off policy assigned in the Employment Status tab of the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People. Time off policies control when employees can request time away from work by defining a rolling blackout period during which employees can’t make requests. Time off policies are configured in Time Away From Work > Time Off Policy. |
Tip Type Group |
The tip type group assigned to employee work assignments in the Work > Work Assignments screen of People. |
Union Membership |
The unions assigned to employees in the Employment > Unions screen of People. |
User Org Visibility |
Org visibility refers to the employee’s location access in the Location Access tab of the Security Access section in the Security Settings screen of People. When this mapping value is selected, the ShortName-XRefCode column shows a drop-down list with the following options:
The result of the update for this value depends on the employee’s existing location access. This update can also result in an end date being assigned to the user's existing location management in the Managed Locations section of the Work > Management Assignments screen of People. If none of the employee’s existing access is in the same org tree as the mapped location (for example, a different site), the following occurs:

User Org Visibility and Management |
Org visibility refers to the employee’s location access in the Location Access tab of the Security Access section in the Security Settings screen of People. User pay code groups restrict which pay adjustments a user has access to assign and specify which pay adjustments can be assigned to an employee, based on the pay codes contained in the group. Pay code groups are configured in Pay Setup > Pay Code Group. |
Vacation Bidding Group |
The vacation bidding group assigned in the Work > Vacation Bidding Group screen of People. Vacation bidding groups are used to group appropriate employees to bid on vacation periods in Dayforce. Employees are typically grouped based on their role or job, and every employee included in a vacation bidding group participates in a single vacation bidding session. |
Work Contract |
The work contract assigned to an employee in the Work > Work Contracts screen of People. An employee’s work contract defines the length of their contract period and how many hours they work during each period. |
Important: If you update the reference code of any mapping object that is currently used in a mapping rule, you must manually update the mapping configuration in HR Admin > Employee Data Mapping Rules. Until you do, the ShortName-XRefCode stays blank.
