If your organization uses both Recruiting and Position Management, you can create job requisitions for positions in your organization hierarchy using the Job Requisition (Position Management) form.
You can open this form in the following ways:
- In People by clicking Actions > Job Requisition (Position Management)
- In Recruiting by clicking New > Job Requisition (Position Management)
The process for creating requisitions is similar to the process if you don’t use Position Management, with some differences noted below:
- The Number of Openings field moves from the Job Assignment Details section to the Job Requisition Details section in the form. If you change the number of openings, your change is applied in Organization Designer. Read and update access to this field is controlled using the Recruiting: Job Requisition - Number Of Openings access authorization.
- The Job Description field is updated so that you can replace the job description with the position description. Click the Get Latest Description button (if your user role has access to it) and select Position Description from the list.
- The Hiring Manager field is removed.
- The Primary Position section contains the fields Managing Position, Position Name, and Primary Location. These fields are specific to Position Management.
Assign Job Requisitions to Positions
You can create a requisition for a position that is vacant as of the date specified in the Target Start Date field, or the Request Date field if the target start date isn’t specified.
The positions available in the Primary Position section depend on the user’s Position Management access authorizations.
You can’t create a new job requisition for a position when there’s an unfilled requisition associated with that position. In this situation, you need to reopen the existing requisition for the position rather than creating a new one. You can create a new job requisition in the situation where there are multiple position openings and the original job requisition was already filled.
For your convenience, positions listed in the Position Name field are marked as available or unavailable. If they are unavailable, the ID and name of the requisition they are assigned to is shown. If you select a position that's not available, you'll encounter an error when you try to save the requisition.
Positions are considered available in the following situations:
- They aren't assigned to any other job requisition.
- For non-pooled positions, they are assigned to another job requisition and that requisition is filled.
- For pooled positions, they are assigned to another job requisition and that requisition is closed, cancelled or filled.
If positions have multiple openings, they will remain available to assign until all openings are filled. Each position opening has a unique ID, but that ID isn’t shown in the Position Name field. The unique position ID is attached to employee records when candidates are hired.
When you delete a job requisition that is tied to a position, the associated vacant positions are also deleted. Dayforce deletes vacant positions that were created when the job requisition was created. The original position that was created in Organization Designer isn’t deleted.
