- Original Organization Designer user interface -
Localization makes it easier for everyone to use Organization Designer in the language they’re most comfortable with. You can add localizations for business unit names and descriptions in the languages that are enabled in your Dayforce environment.
If there’s no localization for your preferred language, Organization Designer shows the business unit name and description in the default language that your organization uses for Dayforce.
When someone creates a business unit in a language that’s not the organization’s default, that language initially becomes the default for the business unit. All users see that version until localizations are added for their own languages or for the organization’s default language.
When someone using a different language updates the name or description, their changes are saved as a localization in that language. Users in the same language see that version, while everyone else continues to see the default.
After a localization is added in the organization’s default language, it becomes the version shown to users in that language, and to anyone else whose language doesn’t have its own localization. If someone updates the business unit in the default language, that localization and the base value for the name and description are updated and become the new default.
For example, an organization’s default language is English (US). Someone using Dayforce in French (CA) adds a business unit called “Ressources humaines.” This name is added as a localization for French (CA), and all users see “Ressources humaines” while no other localizations have been added.
Later, an English (US) user updates the name to “Human Resources.” This update creates a localization for English (US), which becomes the default because English (US) is the organization’s default language. “Human Resources” is shown to English (US) users, and it’s also shown to everyone whose language doesn’t have a localization.
