Cumulative Hours

You can configure cumulative hours functionality to determine if employees have worked the required number of hours in the previous 12 months to be guaranteed employment after taking a leave of absence. For example, in the United States, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) indicates that employees are required to have worked 1250 hours in the past 12 months to be guaranteed employment when they return from leave.

Using this functionality, you can configure which hours you want to calculate and then run a background job for specific locations or employees to aggregate those hours. Then, you can view those hours in Dayforce.

Configuring cumulative hours involves the following:

  1. Define up to four aggregated hours fields in HR Admin > Cumulative Hours Admin. In the following example, two fields have been added: Hours Worked in Last 4 Years and Hours Worked in Last 12 Months:
  2. Two example aggregated hours fields.
  3. See Add Cumulative Hours Fields.
  4. Configure the Compute Worked Minutes in Period background job.
  5. See Compute Worked Minutes in Period in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.
  6. View the hours calculated by the background job in the Cumulative Hours section in the Time tab of the employee card:
  7. Preceding two aggregated hours fields shown in the employee card after configuration.
