You can set a position as pooled when you’re creating it, or you can change an existing position to be pooled. There are some restrictions on which positions can be pooled; see “Pooled Position Restrictions” in Pooled Positions.
Create a New Pooled Position
To set a new position as pooled while you’re creating it, click the Pooled Position switch in the Create Position panel. Clicking the switch enables the Occupant Limit field, where you enter the maximum number of occupants that can be assigned to the position:

Make an Existing Position Pooled
You can change a position into a pooled position if it meets the following conditions:
- The position has no occupants in the past, present, or future.
- The position has no associated job requisitions in open, closed, filled, or canceled status.
- Interim occupancy isn’t enabled for the position.
To set an existing position as pooled:
- Go to Organization Designer > Positions and open the position.
- Click the edit icon in the Position Details section.
- Click the Pooled Position switch. The switch is grayed out if any of the restrictions apply to the position. see “Pooled Position Restrictions” in Pooled Positions.
- Enter the maximum number of occupants in the Occupant Limit field.
- Click Update.
