Assign Work Contracts

To assign a work contract:

  1. Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Work > Work Contracts.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Work Contract drop-down list, select a contract.
  4. If the contract is configured with a fixed number of hours, when you click the Contract Hours field, Dayforce automatically populates the field with the number of hours specified in the contract.
  5. If Dayforce hasn’t automatically populated the Contract Hours field, enter the number of hours the employee works per contract period.
  6. In the Effective From field, specify when the contract becomes effective. Dayforce uses this field to automatically populate the Day column. This becomes the first day of the week for the employee’s work pattern (outlined in the Work Pattern Details section ahead).
  7. (Optional) In the Effective To field, specify when the contract is no longer effective.
  8. If the employee requires a work pattern (outlined in the Work Pattern Details section ahead), enter the number of days in the pattern in the Length in Days field. For example, to create a work pattern of seven days, enter 7.
  9. (Optional) Select the Create Shift on Holidays checkbox to create shifts on holidays when it automatically adds shifts to a schedule based on an employee’s work pattern.
  10. (Optional) In the Complementary Hours field, specify the number of extra hours the employee can work outside of their regular contract hours specified previously in the Contract Hours field.
  11. (Optional) Fill out the Full Time Hours, Contract Work %, and Average # of Days fields for additional record keeping. These are basic text fields that don’t interact with or change anything in Dayforce when information is added.
  12. Click Save.
