Assign Access Authorizations for Pay Grades and Pay Zones

Access authorizations control a user's ability to view and update pay zone and pay grade information in forms and employee profiles.

Employee Pay Information

The Can Read checkbox of this access authorization is a prerequisite for pay grade fields to be shown in the Pay Information section of work assignment records in the Work > Work Assignments screen of People.

Pay Grade

Controls access to the pay grade information displayed in the following areas of Dayforce:

  • The Job Assignment and Compensation Change form.
  • The Compensation Change form.
  • The Job Requisition form.
  • The Work > Work Assignments screen in People.
  • The Jobs and Job Assignments tab and the Pay Grades tab in Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting.

Pay Grade - Control Rate

Pay Grade - Compa-Ratio

Pay Grade - Pay Zone

Each access authorization enables a corresponding read-only field in the following areas:

  • The Pay Information section of work assignment records in the Work > Work Assignments screen of People.
  • The Job Assignment and Compensation Change form.
  • The Compensation Change form.
  • The Candidate Hire form.

Only the Can Read checkbox is applicable for these access authorizations.

The following is a definition of the corresponding fields:

  • Pay Grade: The name of the pay grade assigned to the employee.
  • Min: The lowest amount someone working a job assignment assigned the pay grade should earn.
  • Mid: The automatically calculated midpoint between the minimum and maximum rates of the pay grade.
  • Max: The highest amount someone working a job assignment assigned the pay grade should earn.
  • Control Rate: The amount that most employees earn (also known as the market rate). Not necessarily the midpoint between the minimum and maximum, it represents the ideal amount that employees working job assignments with the pay grade should earn.
  • Compa-Ratio: The percentage calculated as the employee’s pay amount in relation to the pay grade control point. A ratio of 100% means the employee is paid at the control point.
  • Pay Zone: The name of the pay zone assigned to the employee.

Pay Grade - Pay Zone Override

Controls the ability to view and update the Pay Zone Override drop-down list in the following areas:

  • The Pay Information section of work assignment records in the Work > Work Assignments screen of People.
  • The Job Assignment and Compensation Change form.
  • The Compensation Change form.
  • The Candidate Hire form.

Only the Can Read and Can Update checkboxes are applicable for this access authorization.

To assign access authorizations for pay zones and pay grades:

  1. Go to System Admin > Roles and click the Authorizations tab.
  2. Select the role that you want to update access for.
  3. Select the Can Create, Can Read, Can Update, and Can Delete checkboxes as needed for the access authorizations listed in the preceding table.
  4. Click Save.
