Cross-reference codes, sometimes referred to as reference codes or XREF codes, are used in import and export files as unique identifiers for elements and entries being imported or exported. For example, these cross-reference codes can uniquely identify each element of an org unit, individual pay groups, or specific entries in employee records.
You can add many cross-reference codes directly to entries that you’re making in Dayforce, like the Reference Code column for a legal entity in Org Setup > Org Payroll Setup > Legal Entity, or the Reference Code field in Pay Setup > Pay Groups, in the Pay Group Properties tab.
System cross-reference codes can’t be added or edited in Dayforce, but must be included in import and export files.
