Add Job Step Rates

Though Dayforce generates employees' job step rates automatically, you can also manually add job step rates.

To add a job step rate:

  1. Go to People, open the employee profile, and click Work > Job Step Rates.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the Work Assignment drop-down list, select a work assignment.
  4. Enter the job step rate's effective start date and, optionally, its effective end date.
  5. In the Job Set Levels drop-down list, select a level.
  6. Click Save.

For example, an employee is manually assigned Level 2:

After saving, Dayforce automatically adds a transaction to increment the employee’s step value as necessary:

In this example, the employee’s step value needed to be incremented by 500 to reach Level 2. In cases where an employee has already accumulated step values, Dayforce only increments the step value by the difference between the required value and the employee’s current value. For example, if an employee has accumulated a step value of 500 and they require 1,000 to reach the level they have been assigned, Dayforce would add a transaction for 500 (the difference between 1,000 and 500).
