Add Business Units

- New Organization Designer user interface -

The first step in setting up Position Management in Dayforce is to build the business unit hierarchy. When you configure your organization's business units, you are setting up your organization's functional structure.

To add a business unit:

  1. Go to Organization DesignerBusiness Units.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If you’re adding the first business unit in the hierarchy, on the welcome screen, click Create a Business Unit.
    • If you already have some business units, click the parent business unit for the one you’re adding, and then click Add Business Unit under it.
  3. Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the business unit.
  4. Enter a reference code. Each business unit must have a unique reference code.
  5. Optionally, enter a ledger code.
  6. If the business unit has an end date, enter it in the Effective To field.
  7. Click the save button in the toolstrip. The button is enabled when you’ve filled in all of the required fields.
