Recruiting and Enhanced Employee Gender

This topic describes the changes made in Recruiting to support Enhanced Employee Gender.

Recruiting is a Dayforce feature that brings external hires into the system. Recruiting uses a combination of single and mass hiring to onboard these employees.

Enhanced Employee Gender Configuration and Recruiting

Assuming a single employee is being hired into Dayforce using Recruiting, then Enhanced Employee Gender options can be selected for them. However, these options need to be configured in the gender administration screen (HR Admin > Employee Gender Admin > Gender) for them to show for employees.

Single Hiring

The following XML forms have been updated with the new Gender grid, and will operate like other system forms:

  • Candidate Hire
  • Candidate Hire Form (Position Management)

If these system forms are in use, information from pre-hire questionnaires will update the Gender grid in these forms.

Mass Hiring

As of Dayforce Release 2025.1.1, Enhanced Employee Gender supports mass hiring in Recruiting:

Mass Hire Candidates feature.

As part of this update, information in pre-hire questionnaires now filters through to mass hiring, as expected.

Pre-Hire Questionnaires

As of Dayforce Release 2025.1.1, pre-hire questionnaires support Enhanced Employee Gender functionality:

Pre-hire questionnaire dialog box.

With this change, the same functionality that exists in the Personal > Confidential Information screen of People now exists in Recruiting. In addition, any configuration made in the Gender module is available to candidates in Recruiting.

Employees in Canada or the United States can supply a single value for their assigned sex and/or gender identity and Dayforce will either ask for more information or automatically create a federal record.

US employee example
Country (Mandatory) State/Province (Mandatory in the United States and Canada) Assigned Sex (Mandatory as per Configuration) Gender Identity (Optional) Notes
United States California Male Male Added by Recruiter or Candidate
United States - Male - Added by Dayforce, not required by Recruiter or Candidate during pre-hire questionnaire

Employees outside of Canada and the United States can also supply a single set of gender values to the Gender grid, and Dayforce will use this information throughout the application. Alternatively, employees can provide multiple country values and Dayforce will process this information as well. For example:

UK employee example
Country (Mandatory) State/Province (N/A) Assigned Sex (Mandatory as per Configuration) Gender Identity (Optional) Notes
United Kingdome   Male Male Added by Recruiter or Candidate

Potential Issues between Pre-Hire Questionnaires and Custom Recruiting Forms

If a customer uses a custom XML form to hire individual candidates, they might now have issues with their configuration which will need to be resolved.

For example, the following screenshot from the pre-hire questionnaire shows that because the questionnaire now supports Enhanced Employee Gender, the original legacy Gender field is no longer available:

Gender section in pre-hire questionnaire.

Legacy Gender drop-down lists in custom single hire XML forms won’t be filled in from the pre-hire questionnaire and therefore won’t be processed by Dayforce.

Instead, customers can do any of the following:

  • Manually add the gender value using the legacy Gender drop-down list in the custom single hire XML form by looking for it in the employee’s pre-hire questionnaire.
  • Update their configuration to use a system single hire XML form.
  • Update their custom single hire XML form to use the new Enhanced Employee Gender grid.
