Important: Before updating a customer’s production environment, ensure that any changes are tested in a non-production or test environment.
This topic describes how to migrate custom forms from using the legacy Gender and Gender Identity drop-down lists to using the new Gender grid for Enhanced Employee Gender.
By default, forms that contain the legacy Gender and Gender Identity drop-down lists will continue to work with Enhanced Employee Gender in Dayforce Release 2025.1.0. However, only limited functionality can be provided because of changes in how gender information is configured and stored in Dayforce. For information about backward compatibility of the legacy drop-down lists, see Custom Forms Backward Compatibility.
What Are Custom Forms?
Custom forms are forms built by customers, implementation, partners, and support. They are usually, but not always, copies of system forms. A system form is one maintained by Dayforce. Customers can’t edit or update system forms in any way.
Legacy and Enhanced Forms
Why Migrate to the Enhanced Employee Gender Gender Grid?
Customers are encouraged, but not forced, to move to the new Gender grid in Enhanced Employee Gender. The Gender grid offers more functionality and is designed specifically for gender information going forward. The legacy Gender and Gender Identity drop-down lists are unable to use much of the new functionality for Enhanced Employee Gender:
- Backward compatible drop-down lists lack functionality: The legacy Gender and Gender Identity drop-down lists can operate only through backward compatibility mode. They continue to work as long as employees don’t update their records to enhanced ones, or administrators don’t configure the system to allow for features that are in the Enhanced Employee Gender feature set.
- Engaging with Enhanced Employee Gender requires custom form updates: If employees or administrators are using Enhanced Employee Gender features they’ll need to update their custom forms to help ensure compatibility.
- Future features for Enhanced Employee Gender: New features will be for the enhanced Gender grid only. Dayforce will continue to maintain the existing legacy Gender and Gender Identity drop-down lists for a period of time, but significant future (and currently not planned) changes to Enhanced Employee Gender could cause the legacy drop-down lists to stop working.
How Has the Form XML Been Updated?
The Gender grid for XML forms allows all of the Enhanced Employee Gender to work as expected.
