This page provides information for customers who want to update their API integrations and switch from using existing legacy Gender and Gender Identity endpoints to using enhanced employee gender endpoints.
Why Migrate to Enhanced Endpoints?
Customers are encouraged, but not forced, to move to the Enhanced Employee Gender endpoints for their API integrations. These new endpoints offer more functionality and are designed specifically for gender information going forward. The legacy endpoints can’t be used with much of the new functionality for Enhanced Employee Gender.
Backward compatible endpoints lack functionality
The legacy Gender and Gender Identity endpoints can operate only in backward compatibility mode. They continue to work as long as employees don’t update their records to enhanced ones, or administrators don’t configure the system to use features that are part of Enhanced Employee Gender.
Engaging with Enhanced Employee Gender required API updates
If employees or administrators are using Enhanced Employee Gender features, they need to update their API integrations to help ensure compatibility.
Future features for Enhanced Employee Gender
New features will apply only to the new enhanced API integration endpoints. Dayforce will continue to maintain the existing legacy endpoints for a period of time, but significant future (and currently not planned) changes to Enhanced Employee Gender could cause the legacy endpoints to stop working.
