Benefits and Enhanced Employee Gender

This page details the changes made to the Benefits module to support Enhanced Employee Gender.

Gender Information Used by Benefits

Due to potential compliance concerns, the Benefits module has been updated to use the specific country record for employees, assuming it exists, as follows:

Canada

The Canada country record (often referred to as the federal record) will be used for Canadian employees. This record is shown in People with a blank province value and is generated by Dayforce automatically in most situations. This value can only ever be Male or Female.

Ireland

The Ireland country record will be used for Irish employees. Ireland doesn’t have restrictions on benefits information because assigned sex information is rarely, if ever, reported to benefits carriers. If there are concerns, qualifiers for a benefit should be built to restrict to a particular assigned sex value.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom country record will be used for UK employees. Even if a custom configuration allows for a value other than male or female for an employee in the United Kingdom, it will still resolve to male or female due to restrictions in the compliance framework.

United States

The United States country record (often referred to as the federal record) will be used for US employees. This record is shown in People with a blank province value and is generated by Dayforce automatically in most situations. This value can only ever be male or female.

Eligibility Qualifiers

Updated eligibility qualifiers to make sure that customers can verify an employee’s assigned sex information. Customers can interrogate this information in the eligibility expression editor directly, to allow for only validly qualified employee gender information to be selected.

Validation Updates

In Enhanced Employee Gender, it’s possible for an employee to be missing assigned sex information, based on configuration in HR Admin > Employee Gender Admin > Gender. Because this is also possible in Benefits qualifiers, assigned sex can be passed as a NULL value to Benefit Carrier Feeds.
