Configure Custom Question Categories

Before You Begin: You can't edit system categories. To update a system category, you can copy the existing category as a base to create a custom category.

To add a custom category to the question library:

  1. Go to Engagement Setup > Question Setup and click the Categories tab.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter the category name in the text field.
  4. Enter the category description in the Description field. The description is displayed to participants and managers when they review survey results.
  5. Click Save.

To copy an existing category:

  1. Go to Engagement Setup > Question Setup and click the Categories tab.
  2. Select the question you want to copy.
  3. Click Copy.
  4. Update the category name in the text field.
  5. Update the category description in the Description field. The description is displayed to participants and managers when they review survey results.
  6. Click Save.

Important: If the category has been previously included in a survey, there might already be survey data associated with it. If you copy a category, this data continues to be associated with the original version of the category, and isn’t copied over to the new version.

Note: Any localizations associated with the original category aren’t copied over when you create a copy. You can localize the new version of the category after you save it. See Localize Custom Question Categories.
