For each accrual, Dayforce shows how much time you have earned, used, and have remaining in the Balances panel in Work > Time Away List. Dayforce also shows the amount of time used by pending requests that your manager hasn’t yet approved or rejected. Vacation time and sick leave are examples of accruals that you might receive and are reasons for your time away:
If you looked up your vacation hours and Dayforce shows the above example, you have earned, or accrued, 208 vacation hours. You have taken 52 hours off, and have requested 32 hours that are pending approval.
The following table outlines each column that can appear in the Balances panel and describes the information that Dayforce shows.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Grant |
Before You Begin: This column appears only if you have balances with grant amounts. The grant amount for the balance. This is the total balance amount that you will accumulate during a balance period (such as a year) but it's separate from the amount that you’ve actually accumulated. |
Accrued | The amount you've earned or accumulated for the balance. |
Approved | The balance amount requested for time away that was approved by your manager. |
Pending | The balance amount requested for time away that hasn’t been approved by your manager. |
Remaining Grant |
Before You Begin: This column appears only if you have balances with grant amounts. The remaining grant amount that you have left for the balance. This is your accumulated grant amount minus all used, approved, or pending amounts. |
Remaining | The amount that you have left in your balance. This is your accrued amount minus all used, approved, or pending amounts. |
Exceeded | The exceeded amount for the balance. For example, if you have a negative balance where you have used or will use more than you have accrued, Dayforce shows the negative amount in this column. |
Depending on how Dayforce is configured, balances are shown in one of two ways: a full balance view or a simplified balance view. The columns that Dayforce shows depend on the view type configured for your organization.
These views don’t apply when you create a time away request. Even if your instance is configured to use the simplified balance view, Dayforce shows the full balance view in the Balances panel of the time away request.
Full Balance View
With the full balance view, Dayforce shows the following columns:
- Grant (if applicable)
- Accrued
- Approved
- Pending
- Remaining Grant (if applicable)
- Remaining
- Exceeded
Simplified Balance View
In the simplified balance view, Dayforce shows the following columns:
- Accrued
- Remaining
- Exceeded
With this view, Dayforce doesn’t show the Pending or Approved columns. Instead, it subtracts the balance used by all approved or pending time away requests from your accrued balance and shows the result in the Remaining column.
