You can waive and unwaive meals on your timesheet using the Waive Meals and Unwaive Meals buttons.
When Dayforce is configured for meal waivers, Employee Timesheet always shows the waive and unwaive meals buttons, even if the shift doesn’t meet the required length, or if meal break penalties aren’t enabled in your time entry policy. When you try to waive a meal that isn’t eligible, Dayforce shows a message indicating that the meal waiver is invalid.
To waive or unwaive a meal on your timesheet:
- Go to Employee Timesheet and select the time and attendance records that you want to authorize.
- Click Waive Meals. Dayforce waives the meal and marks the shift with the waived meal icon (
):

- To unwaive a meal, click Unwaive Meal.
- Click Save.
Waive Individual Meals
Depending on how your time entry policy is configured, you might be able to waive individual meals. With this functionality enabled, clicking the Waive Meals and Unwaive Meals buttons opens a drop-down list where you can select the meal you want to waive:
Select a waive option. Dayforce waives the meal and adds the waived meal icon to the shift. In the following scenario, the second meal waived icon () is shown because Waive Second Meal was selected:
To unwaive the meal, click Unwaive Meals and select Unwaive Second Meal in the drop-down list.
A shift can have any of the following meal waiver statuses:
