Perform Transfers

Depending on your Dayforce configuration, you might be able to perform different types of transfers on the clock. Similar to the clock entry types that are described above, your time entry policy determines the types of transfers that you can perform.

Transfer types in Work > Time Clock
Transfer Type Description
Work transfer

Transfer to another qualified location and job assignment.

After you click Work Transfer, Dayforce opens the Work Transfer screen. Select a location from the list.

Project transfer

Transfer to an eligible project.

After you click Project Transfer, Dayforce opens the Project Transfer screen. Select a project from the list.

Docket transfer
Docket quantity

Transfer to an eligible docket and specify the docket quantity. Sometimes, these transfer options are combined.

After you click Docket Transfer, Dayforce opens the Docket Transfer screen. Select a docket from the list.

You might be required to specify a quantity of work that was produced when you perform a docket transfer, either when you perform the transfer, or in a separate clock entry later. When the transfer requires a docket quantity, the Quantity Transfer screen is also shown.

If you’re required to submit the quantity after performing the transfer, click the Docket Quantity button on the clock to enter a separate quantity clock entry in the Quantity Transfer screen. For example, this requirement might apply if you transfer at the beginning of your shift, but need to enter the quantity of work that you performed at the end of your shift.

Schedule transfer

Transfer to an eligible schedule segment.

After you click Schedule Transfer, Dayforce opens the Schedule Transfer screen if your shift is configured with schedule segments. If your shift isn’t configured with any schedule segments to transfer to, Dayforce indicates that no transfers are available.

Select the schedule segment that you want to transfer to. Dayforce shows details for each segment, including its start and end times, location, and the job assignment associated with it.

Labor metrics transfer

Transfer between eligible labor metrics.

After you click Labor Metrics Transfer, Dayforce opens the Labor Metrics Transfer screen if your shift is configured with labor metrics. If your shift isn’t configured with labor metrics, Dayforce doesn’t open the screen.

Select a labor metric.

Important: If the transfer screen doesn’t contain any list items, you might not have the ability to perform the transfer. For example, if you click Work Transfer and the screen doesn’t contain any locations, you might not have the ability to transfer between locations.

To perform a transfer:

  1. Go to Work > Time Clock.
  2. (Optional) If you haven’t already, clock in to start your shift.
  3. Click View all clock functions and then click one of the following transfer buttons:
    • Work Transfer
    • Project Transfer
    • Docket Transfer
    • Docket Quantity
    • Schedule Transfer
    • Labor Metrics Transfer
  4. A transfer screen opens. See the table above for details on each transfer type.
  5. To enter the details of the transfer, follow the prompts in the screen.
  6. Note: Remember, if the screen doesn’t contain any list items, you might not have the ability to perform the transfer.
  7. After you’ve specified the transfer details, the clock indicates whether the transfer was successful.
