If enabled, you can preview images and documents without downloading a copy of the file, which can save time and help reduce replication.
To enable document preview, the Enable Document Preview client property must be selected in the Properties tab of System Admin > Client Properties.
File Types and Sizes
Currently supported file types are PDF, Word (DOC and DOCX), and image files such as JPG, PNG, and so on. Excel and other file formats aren’t supported by the preview feature yet. If a document type allows an unsupported file type, and preview is enabled, a user trying to preview the file will receive an error.
Files under 3 MB render quickly in the previewer, while larger files can take longer. If downloading is enabled for your user role for the file type that is delayed, you can download the file without waiting for the preview to complete.
Preview Files
To preview a file, click the file name hyperlink. Depending on which Dayforce feature you're using, the Preview opens in either a dialog box or a slide-out panel.
Note: If preview isn't enabled for your role for this file type, but downloading is allowed, the file downloads without first opening the preview.
In the Preview area, you can zoom in or out, expand the preview area, and expand the file to fill the preview area. If enabled, you can also download the file.
In some Dayforce features, you can select other files to preview from the list at the top of the preview area.
