On-Demand Summary in the Employee Preview Slide-Out Panel

In the On-Demand tab and the On-Demand Summary tab of Payroll > Pay Run Management, you can click the arrow tab at the top right of the screen to open the Employee Preview slide-out panel for an employee. The slide-out panel displays the On-Demand Summary tab, which lists the following totals for the pay period:

  • Gross: The employee's total gross normal worked earnings in the pay period so far.
  • Pre-Tax Deductions: The total amount of pre-tax deductions on the gross earnings listed above. If the deduction is a flat amount, then the flat amount is displayed. If the deduction is a percent, then it is based on the gross earnings listed above.
  • For Canada, these represent the amount deducted from your pay before taxes are calculated, for example, registered retirement savings plans or union dues.
  • Taxes: The total employee tax on the gross earnings listed above.
  • Post-Tax Deductions: The total amount of post-tax deductions on the gross earnings listed above. If the deduction is a flat amount, then the flat amount is displayed. If the deduction is a percent, then it is based on the gross earnings listed above. Garnishments are also included in this total.
  • Policy Reserve: This amount is based on a percentage that you configure in the Percentage of net to be made available field in Payroll Setup > On-Demand Pay. The line item amount shown represents the amount not available (reserved), based on the percentage configured. This line is shown only if the Percentage of net to be made available field is configured at less than 100%. The amount in the Policy Reserve field is earned pay reserved by the employer that cannot be added to the employee's card. Earned pay that isn’t available to add to the employee's card is paid out on the employee's regular payday. Note that negative earning amounts are always considered, even if the earning is excluded from On-Demand Pay. This ensures the policy reserve accurately represents what is available for disbursement.
  • Disbursed: The total amount advanced from previous requests in the current pay period, if any.
  • Available Funds: The total amount that is available to request at this time. This amount is based on the Gross Pay line minus all of the other lines.

Dayforce can also show on-demand summary information for other pay periods in which the employee has available funds. See Available Funds Across Pay Periods.
