On-Demand Off-Cycle True-Ups

On-demand off-cycle true-up pay runs are automatically generated pay runs that are used at quarter end (US-only) and at year end (Canada and US) to ensure that pay, taxes, and deductions are all correctly attributed to the quarter or year in which they occurred. This also ensures that these amounts are correctly reported in the Payroll Register in the correct quarter or year.

The true-up can be considered a kind of gross-up, when Dayforce processes an on-demand payment that falls in a pay period that crosses one quarter to the next, or that crosses one year to the next, it automatically creates the off-cycle pay run using an on-demand pay, off-cycle true up check type. A pay period running from 28 December, 2025 to 10 January, 2026 is an example of a pay period that crosses quarters as well as years.

The on-demand pay off-cycle true-up process sums all of the on-demand pay requests for the pay period, using the automatically generated off-cycle pay run, and trues-up what gets held or taken out during the appropriate quarter or year in that specific off-cycle pay run. This ensures that the payroll register correctly reports the amounts that were disbursed, taxed, and otherwise withheld in the appropriate quarters or years in which they occurred.
