Available Funds Across Pay Periods

Available funds for on-demand pay can come from more than one open pay period. This can occur if the pay period end date of a pay run falls one or more days before its commit date. In cases like this, the employee can accumulate available funds in the next pay period in addition to the funds they accumulated in the previous pay period.

For example, the available funds the employee sees in the mobile app are the sum of available funds from each pay period (the completed period and the current period). When the employee makes a request in this scenario, Dayforce uses the available funds in the completed pay period before using funds from the current pay period.

Example: The pay period for PPN 1 goes to Sunday and its commit date is on the upcoming Tuesday. By Sunday, say that the employee has $100 in available funds. The employee works a shift on Monday, which falls under PPN 2. By the end of their shift, the available funds that they see in the mobile app increases to $200, which includes $100 from PPN1 and $100 from PPN 2. If the employee makes a request for $150, the application uses the available balance of $100 from PPN 1 and the remaining $50 from PPN2, leaving an available balance of $50 in in PPN 2.

The employee sees one total for available funds, but Dayforce makes separate disbursements to the Dayforce Wallet Card: one for the amount taken from each of the pay periods. As a result, the employee receives separate notifications for each disbursement with the separate pay period listed in each notification. The transaction history in the mobile app shows a separate amount for each pay period.

Also, in the On-Demand tab of Payroll > Pay Run Management, Dayforce shows the employee's request in an enlarged row with the amount taken from each pay period:

On-demand pay requests for an employee for a previous and a currently open pay period.

If this row needs to be approved, you only need to approve it in one of the PPNs and the row in the other PPN will automatically update as well.

The On-Demand Summary tab in Payroll > Pay Run Management and the employee earning statement only display the amount that was taken from the pay period that is loaded.

The On-Demand Summary tab in the Employee Preview slide-out panel displays a separate list for each pay from which funds are taken:
