The Global Properties feature provides the employee data fields that organizations use in Dayforce Unified
Global Properties fields are unique to Dayforce Unified
When configured, Dayforce users can view the Global Properties feature in HR Admin and in People.
Important: Depending on your configuration, you might not have access to the Global Properties options described in this section. For more information, contact your Dayforce representative.
Configure Global Properties
Role feature access: System Admin > System Admin > Client properties
To activate the Global Properties feature in Dayforce, you need to configure the following settings in System Admin > Client Properties in the Properties tab in the Payroll section:
- Global Country Administration Enabled: Activates the Global Properties feature so you can access and view country-specific fields that are associated with the country that your employees are in.
- Integrated Countries: Integrated countries that you select (in the drop-down list) to associate them with the Global Properties feature in Dayforce.
See Client Properties - Payroll
Global Properties in HR Admin
Role feature access: HR Admin > HR Admin > Global Properties
When you go to HR Admin > Global Properties, the page that loads is the Global Administration Countries screen. The screen organizes the employee data fields by the country in which your employees are paid. The countries show up on this list when they're added to the client properties of your Dayforce instance.
See Configure Client Properties for Dayforce Unified.
Some data fields in the Global Properties feature are selected automatically and are read-only because they're required to process a compliant payroll in your country. Fields that you can select or clear are often optional. When a field is a pick list, the list is configured during implementation to include predefined or customer-defined values.
The Global Administration Countries screen shows the list of countries that are added, and several buttons and columns. Below the Refresh button, there is a row of indicators:
- All: The total number of countries added.
- Enabled: The number of countries with enabled properties.
- Not Enabled: The number of countries with properties that aren't enabled.
- Update Available: The number of countries with available updates.
The list contains the following columns:
- Country Name: The names of the countries loaded.
- Current Version: The version number of the data dictionary for the country.
- Enabled Properties: The number of enabled properties for the country.
- Not Enabled Properties: The number of properties that aren't enabled for the country.
- Deprecated Properties: The number of deprecated properties for the country.
- Available Update: The version number of the update that's available for the country.
In the following screenshot example for Mexico, the current version of the data dictionary is 0.17
. The Dayforce instance has 16
enabled properties, 15
deprecated properties, and it has an update 0.23
available, meaning that you can apply the update to make sure that you’re working with the most current data dictionary for the country.
If you click the country name in the list, a slide-out panel for that country opens and shows the available properties for that country, as illustrated here:
This slide-out panel includes buttons for Save, Refresh, Problems, Update, and Compare, along with property counts for all, enabled, not enabled, and deprecated items. It also includes a list of the properties that you can expand, along with columns showing detailed information about each property.

Global Properties in People
Role feature access: Application Container > People > Employee Profile > Employment > Global Properties
Role authorization access: Employee Profile - Global Properties (All permissions)
In the Employment > Global Properties screen in People, you can add country-specific information in your employees' records to process their payroll. The properties that are available in an employee's record depend on the countries selected in the Integrated Countries client property, and the configuration of the data dictionaries in the HR Admin screen.
When you select an option in the Property drop-down list, Dayforce automatically populates a description in the Description column. You can set effective start and end dates and select a value in the Value column. You can also filter by active and historical global properties.
