If your organization uses Udemy Business, you can configure an integration that connects your Udemy Business course catalog to Dayforce Learning. This integration gives administrators the ability to browse, assign, and report on Udemy courses from Dayforce Learning.
Learners can find and track Udemy courses in Dayforce Learning. However, when learners take one of these courses, it opens in a new browser tab on the Udemy platform rather than in Dayforce Learning. Course completions on the Udemy platform are automatically tracked in Dayforce Learning so that reporting is always accurate.
Adding and managing courses from Udemy Business requires you to do the following:
- Connect Your Udemy Account
- Sync Courses from Udemy
- Update the Udemy Integration Settings
- Delete the Udemy Integration
You need to connect your Udemy Business account to Dayforce Learning before you can begin using the integration.
Before You Begin:
- The Integrations > Udemy screen in Dayforce Learning is only shown when the integration is enabled in Dayforce. If you don’t see the screen, contact your Dayforce representative to enable the integration.
- You need your Udemy Client ID and Udemy Client Secret from the Udemy developer portal to connect your account and complete the integration in Dayforce Learning. See the Udemy developer documentation for instructions on creating API credentials.
To connect your account:
- Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
- In the side panel, under Integrations, click Udemy.
- Click Get started.
- Enter your Udemy Client ID and Udemy Client Secret.
- Select one or more languages for course import, and then click Next. Only courses that are available in the selected languages are imported.
- In the Set up completion tracking screen, copy all of the generated xAPI credentials, including the OAuth Token URL, Client ID, Client Secret, OAuth Scope, and xAPI Statements URL.
- Important: The xAPI credentials are shown only once. Copy all values before clicking Next. If you return to this step, credentials are hidden with copy buttons—they aren’t regenerated.
- Open a separate browser and go to the Udemy Business Admin Panel. Then, enable Learner activity tracking (xAPI) and enter the credentials that you copied. For more information, see the Udemy xAPI documentation, which is linked in the Set up completion tracking screen in Dayforce Learning.
- Return to Dayforce Learning and click Next.
- Configure the enrollment settings and autotagging options for imported Udemy content, and then click Confirm.
By default, the course synchronization job runs every 24 hours and does the following:
- Adds new Udemy courses to Dayforce Learning based on the selected languages.
- Archives courses when a language is removed or the integration is deleted.
- Updates course metadata if modified on the Udemy side.
If needed, you can turn off the Synching enabled switch in the Admin > Integrations > Udemy screen to stop automatic syncing. You can also manually run the synchronization job in Dayforce Learning.
To run the synchronization job manually:
- Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
- In the side panel, under Integrations, click Udemy.
- Click Sync now.
Update the Udemy Integration Settings
After setup, you can change integration settings in the Admin > Integrations > Udemy screen.
Note: Enrollment and autotagging changes apply only to courses synced after the changes are saved. Courses that were already imported aren’t affected retroactively.
To update the integration settings:
- Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
- In the side panel, under Integrations, click Udemy.
- Click Settings.
- Update the settings as needed, and then click Save Settings.
If you need to remove the Udemy integration, you can delete it in the Admin > Integrations > Udemy screen.
Deleting the integration archives all Udemy courses in Dayforce Learning and deactivates xAPI credentials. The integration can be reconfigured at any time by clicking Get started again. Archived courses are restored on the next successful sync after reconfiguration.
To delete the integration:
- Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
- In the side panel, under Integrations, click Udemy.
- Click the Delete icon.
