Content Blocks for Courses

You use content blocks to configure content pages for courses in Dayforce Learning. After adding a content block, you can click the settings icon, if available, to customize how learners see and interact with the content.

Text & Media

The Text & Media content blocks provide employees with the course content. You can use these content blocks to enter, attach, and embed content in your course.

Content blocks in the Text & Media section
Content Block	Purpose
Text	Add written content to your course. Use this block to present key concepts, instructions, or explanations in a clear and structured format. If your organization has the AI Features setting enabled, you can use the AI Course Editing tool to edit the content in text blocks. Selecting a text block shows the Edit with AI icon, and highlighting content in a text block shows the Edit with AI button in the formatting toolbar. Click the Edit with AI icon or button to see the list of available prompts, which you can use to edit your content. Important: Always review AI-generated content for accuracy. Access and configuration: In the Admin > Settings > Learning screen in Dayforce Learning, enable the AI Features setting. For collection administrators, assign the AI Features permission, under Courses, in the Admin > Settings > Learning roles screen of Dayforce Learning for their learning role.
Image	Enhance your course with visuals. Upload images in PNG, JPG, HEIC, or GIF formats to support learning and improve engagement.
Video	Incorporate videos into your course for a dynamic learning experience. Upload video files in .mov, .mp4, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg, or .webm formats. The videos are hosted online and can be played directly in the course player.
PDF	Share important documents by uploading PDFs. Learners can view them directly within the course without needing to download them.
Audio	Add audio content to your course. Upload podcast-style recordings or other audio files that learners can listen to in the course player.
Attachment	Provide additional resources by uploading any file type that supports learning. Learners can download these attachments to deepen their knowledge.
Iframe	Embed external websites directly into your course. Ensure the website’s security settings allow embedding for seamless access within the course player.

Quiz Questions

The Quiz questions content blocks ask employees to complete a quiz to show what they’ve learned.

When you add a content block from this section, you’re shown the Quiz settings button. You can click this button to see the following settings, which you can use to customize the quiz experience for learners:

Shuffle questions: Shows the questions in a randomized order for each learner.
Shuffle answer choices: Shows the choices in a randomized order for each learner.
Passing score: The minimum score needed to pass the quiz. This score can be set based on the number of correct questions, percentage, or points.
Time Limit: The amount of time, in minutes, that the learner is given to complete the quiz questions. When this setting is enabled, a timer is visible throughout the quiz to help learners manage their remaining time.
Maximum attempts: The number of times the learner can try to pass the quiz.
Answer feedback: Specifies when the answers to questions are revealed, either at the end of the quiz or after each question.

Single choice	Create a question with one correct answer. Learners select a single option from multiple choices to check their knowledge.
Multiple choice	Design a question with multiple correct answers. Learners choose all applicable options, encouraging deeper comprehension of the topic.
Rating scale	Allow learners to express their opinion or self-assess their understanding using a structured scale. Ideal for gauging confidence, satisfaction, or agreement levels.
Open text	Encourage critical thinking with open-ended questions. Learners enter their responses, providing detailed explanations or personal insights.
Upload file	Enable learners to upload a file to submit things like assignments and evidence-based assessments.

Knowledge Checks

The Knowledge checks content blocks ask employees to answer a question on the page. These content blocks are useful to highlight a key concept that employees need to grasp.
