Assign Learning Content to Employees

The following sections describe the different options that are available to you for assigning learning content to employees in Dayforce:

Assign Content Manually in Dayforce Learning

You can manually assign learning content to individual users, standard groups, or hierarchy groups, as needed. Standard groups are configured in HR Admin > Groups and hierarchy groups are based on the organization hierarchy. When adding hierarchy groups, you can select or clear individual groups within the hierarchy, as needed.

To manually assign learning content:

  1. Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
  2. In the Learning section of the side panel, click Courses, Events, or Learning plans, depending on the learning content you’d like to assign.
  3. Create new content or click existing content to open it, and then click Assign.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To assign individual users, click the Users tab, and then click Assign new users,
    • To assign all of the users in a standard group or hierarchy group, click the Groups tab, and then click Assign new groups.
  5. Select the users or groups that you want to assign the course to, and then click Next.
  6. Configure the assignment settings as needed, and then click Next. The following settings might be shown:
    • Required: Lets you mark the content as required for learners.
    • Scheduled Assignment: Lets you schedule the content to be assigned to learners on a future date.
    • Deadline: Lets you set a deadline for learners to complete the content.
  7. Review the assignment details and then click Confirm.

Assign Content Using Assignment Rules in Dayforce Learning

You can configure rules to assign content automatically to employees who meet certain criteria.

To assign learning based on assignment rules:

  1. Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
  2. In the Learning section of the side panel, click Courses, Events, or Learning plans, depending on the learning content you’d like to assign.
  3. Create new content or click existing content to open it, and then click Assign.
  4. Click the Rules tab, and then click Add rules.
  5. Configure the assignment rules, adding conditions, as needed, and then click Next.
  6. Configure the assignment settings as needed, and then click Next. The following settings might be shown:
    • Required: Lets you mark the content as required for learners.
    • Scheduled Assignment: Lets you schedule the content to be assigned to learners on a future date.
    • Deadline: Lets you set a deadline for learners to complete the content.
  7. Review the assignment details and then click Confirm.

Assign Content Using an Import in Dayforce Learning

You can add or update multiple course assignments at once by importing the required data in the Admin tab of Dayforce Learning.

It’s highly recommended that you download and use the import templates provided in the Import data dialog box. The templates include instructions and hints that can help ensure a successful import.

To add or update data:

  1. Go to Dayforce Learning and click the Admin tab.
  2. In the Learning section of the side panel, click Courses.
  3. Click the Import data icon (), which is located next to the Filter button.
  4. In the Import data dialog box, click an import option, and then add your data file.

Assign Content Manually in People

To enroll an employee in a course or learning plan:

  1. Go to People, open the employee’s profile, and then click Learning.
  2. Click the Courses or Learning Plans tab, and then click Enroll.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • For courses, select an option in the name drop-down list and, if applicable, select an event session. If the course is external, select a start date and status, and complete the other fields. When you’re done, click OK.
    • For learning plans, select an option in the Name column.
  4. Click Save.
