Update Prebuilt Connectors

When you update a prebuilt connector, the configuration between the old connector version, the new connector version, and the existing integration setup is compared.

Prebuilt connectors in Integration Studio are updated for the following reasons:

  • Maintain compliance with new or updated fields required by the vendor.
  • Incorporate new Dayforce features that can improve performance or supportability.

When an update for a prebuilt connector is available, new integrations that you create using that connector template automatically shows the latest version of the configuration.

The Update tag is shown on the Integration Studio home page beside the affected connector for existing integrations that were configured using an older version of a prebuilt connector.

When you attempt to edit an integration that was configured using an older version of a prebuilt connector without updating it to its latest version, a warning message is shown. Similarly, a warning message is shown when you attempt to copy or import an integration that was configured using an older version of a prebuilt connector.

Edited fields in the older version of a prebuilt connector aren’t updated, because these fields have changed from their default settings and are now treated as custom configurations. Fields in the older version of a prebuilt connector that weren’t edited are updated to the latest version when you update a connector.

For example, if you entered your organization’s policy number in the Policy Number field, that value is now different from the default configuration. When you update the prebuilt connector to the latest version, the Policy Number field isn’t changed. If a Name field was originally mapped to Middle Name in an older version of a prebuilt connector and now it must be mapped to Middle Initial in the latest version, the new configuration is automatically applied to the Name field. The new configuration is automatically applied because you didn’t change the original mapping.

To update a prebuilt connector:

  1. Go to Integration Studio.
  2. Click the action icon beside the connector with the Update tag and select Update Connector.
  3. Review the information shown in the Update Connector Version dialog box and then click Proceed.
  4. Review and edit the integration configuration as needed and then click Save to accept the changes and update the prebuilt connector version.

Note: You can’t revert to an older version of an updated prebuilt connector. If you need to keep a record of the integration for audit purposes, you can copy or export the integration before you update the connector.
