Two options are available to help you take advantage of hub faster while minimizing upfront planning:

  • No hubs created: This option is only available if you don’t have any hubs created yet. It's the fastest option as it automates several configuration steps for you and offers a default hub that includes productivity widgets only for employees and managers (Favorites, Earnings, Balances, My Team, Pending Actions).

  • At least one hub created: This is a slightly more custom option that still accelerates hub configuration but requires a few more steps. You can choose between the default hub template or a sample page template, which focuses primarily on the employee experience. The sample page template also includes several communications widgets, which may require some modification based on your needs and, depending on your organization, approval before publishing the hub.

Depending on which option is the right fit for you, see the steps below.

Note: You may want to follow these steps in your test instance first and then repeat them in Production when you are comfortable with how the widgets show to your employees in different roles.

No hubs created

An Automated Hub Setup process is available to help accelerate hub configuration. With two clicks, you can publish a hub to your employees:

  1. In the Hub Designer welcome dialog, click the Use the default template button. This generates a default hub and assigns a default audience to the hub for you. Check that the resulting layout meets your needs (you can add or remove widgets if needed). You may want to preview your hub with View Preview. For more information, see Use the Default Template to Create Your First Hub in the Dayforce Hub Administrator Guide.

  2. Publish the hub. Check that the hub displays as needed for the roles that will have access to Hub.

At least one hub created

The Default Hub and Sample Page templates are available to help you capitalize on Hub faster:

  1. Create a hub using the Default Hub or Sample Page template. For more information, see Sample Page and Default Template in the Dayforce Hub Administration Guide.

  1. If using the sample page template, remove the sample Rich Text Editor, Featured, and Quick Links if they contain content you don’t want, or don’t have time to get approvals for.

  2. For either template, depending on the modules your company uses, you may also want to remove or add other widgets.

  3. Check that the resulting layout meets your needs. You may want to preview your hub with View Preview.

  1. In your hub assignments, create a hub assignment for the hub you just created. Check the Default box to make the hub available to any role that has the Hub feature enabled.

  2. Publish the hub. Check that the hub displays as needed for the roles that will have access to Hub.

Once you have published the hub using either method, you then need to enable Hub for the roles you want to have access to in the Features tab in System Admin > Roles. Depending on the type of information that would be visible in your hub, consider if terminated employee roles or any other unique roles should have access to this default hub or to a different hub. Also, if there are mobile users your role should be configured with access to Mobile > Hub (in the Features tab in System Admin > Roles) so you can preview widgets as they are shown in mobile Hub, to ensure that they provide the desired employee experience.

As you have time to expand your implementation with the guidance below, you can update or replace this quick hub with additional widgets or more personalized information to better support your organization’s needs.
