Visualize Reports

Before You Begin: To visualize reports, the Application Container > Analyze Reports in PowerBI role feature must be enabled for your user role in System Admin > Roles.

You can visualize reports so that they show information that is relevant to your needs.

Important: If you have made changes to a report you are going to visualize, you must save your changes before you can run the visualization. This applies to new reports, edited reports, and copied reports.

You can visualize reports in various places in Dayforce:

  • In the Reports dialog box, which you can open by clicking the Reports button in feature screens that have reports available.
  • In the ad hoc reporting landing page in Data & Analytics > Reporting > Reports.

To visualize a report:

  1. Select the report that you want to visualize. How you do this depends on where you are in the application:
    • In a feature screen, click Reports to open the dialog box and select the report from the list on the left side.
    • In Reporting > Reports, select the report in the report library list.
  2. Click Run. The application displays the run dialog box.
  3. Note: The pie graph icon is displayed beside reports that are already associated with a visualization. Use the Refresh button to load existing visualizations that are not displaying.
  4. Click Visualize in the run dialog box. The report opens in edit mode and displays the Visualizations and Fields panels. The panels display the options for editing the report as a whole. You can click the visualizations in the report to edit them individually. The Report Columns drop-down list in the Fields panel displays the data sets in the report.
  5. Example of the editing controls for a report.
  6. Note: Dayforce displays a message while the visualization of a report is being processed. After the visualization of the report is complete, the message is removed.
  7. Use the controls in the panel to add and edit the elements in the report. For more information on the controls in the Visualizations panels, see the Microsoft Power BI documentation at the following URL: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/. The Fields panel displays the fields that you can use in the visualization. These fields come from Dayforce.
  8. (Optional) Increase the viewing area for the report elements by clicking Full Screen or you can click the panel headers to minimize them.
  9. Click Save. Alternatively, you can click Back to close edit mode without saving your changes.
  10. Note: If the pie graph icon beside a report is green, this means that a visualization for this report is still open. You can simply click the pie graph icon to open the report in the visualizations screen.
  11. (Optional) You can click Delete to delete the visualization, if needed.
