The Global Properties feature in Dayforce are employee data fields used by organizations that work with ConnectedPay to manage their payroll.
Global Properties fields (those associated with the data dictionaries for their respective countries) are unique to ConnectedPay, and the properties for each depend on the country in which the customer has payroll. Using Global Properties ensures that organizations can maintain a consistent database about their employees between ConnectedPay and Dayforce.
When configured, the Global Properties feature is available in Dayforce in HR Admin and in People.
Configure Global Properties
Role feature access: System Admin > System Admin > Client Properties
In ConnectedPay and Dayforce, to activate Global Properties for an instance of Dayforce, you need to configure the following settings in System Admin > Client Properties in the Properties tab in the Payroll section:
- Global Country Administration Enabled: Activates the Global Properties feature so you can access and view country-specific fields that are associated with the country that your employees are in.
- Integrated Countries: Integrated countries that you select (in the drop-down list) to associate them with the Global Properties feature in Dayforce.
See Client-Properties-Payroll
Global Properties in HR Admin and People
Role feature access:
- HR Admin > HR Admin > Global Properties
- Application Container > People > Employee Profile > Employment > Global Properties
Role authorization access: Employee Profile - Global Properties (All properties)
Important: Depending on your configuration, the Global Properties options described might not be available to you. For more information, contact your Dayforce representative.
When the Global Properties feature is added to your role, you can access the feature in HR Admin > Global Properties, and in the People feature in the Employment > Global Properties screen.
HR Admin > Global Properties
In HR Admin > Global Properties, you can access and view country-specific fields that are associated with the country that your employees are in. Some fields are required to process a compliant payroll in your country and have been selected automatically and cannot be edited. Other fields might be optional and can be selected or cleared. Also, some fields can have pick lists rather than checkboxes, and these fields can be configured at implementation. Dependent on the field, the pick list might be predefined or might client-defined—this is identified in the HR Admin screen
Because of these changes, you don’t need a script to add relevant employee properties for a country, and you can use country-specific fields in your instance.
Note that if there are changes to the data dictionary for your instance of ConnectedPay and Dayforce, a support user must ensure that your instance is updated.
When you go to HR Admin > Global Properties, the page that loads is the Global Administration Countries screen. This screen contains a list of the countries you added to the client properties for your instance of Dayforce to use Dayforce Unified or Dayforce Partner Unified. See Configure Client Properties for ConnectedPay.
On the Global Administration Countries screen, the list contains the countries you added and several controls and columns. At the top of the controls is a Refresh button and the indicators
- All: Shows the total of all countries added.
- EnabledShows the number of countries with enabled properties.
- Not Enabled: Shows the number of countries with non-enabled properties.
- Update Available: Shows the number of countries with available updates.
The list contains the following columns:
- Country Name: The names of the countries loaded.
- Current Version: The version number of the data dictionary for the country.
- Enabled Properties: The number of enabled properties for the country.
- Not Enabled Properties: The number of not enabled properties for the country.
- Deprecated Properties: The number of deprecated properties for the country.
- Available Update: Shows the version number of the update for the country.
See the following screenshot for an illustration of this:
In the following screenshot example, you can see the country Mexico. The current version of the data dictionary is 0.17
, and it has 16
enabled properties, 15
deprecated properties, and it has update 0.23
available, meaning that you can apply the update to make sure that you’re working with the most current data dictionary for the country..
If you click the country name in the list, a slide-out panel for that country opens and shows the available properties for that country, as illustrated here:
This slide-out panel has the controls Save, Refresh, Problems, Update, and Compare, and counts for properties (all, enabled, not enabled, and deprecated). It also contains a list of the properties, each of which can be expanded, as well as columns for corresponding information about the property. Dependent on the field, the pick list might be predefined or might client-defined—this is identified in the HR Admin screen:
- Name
- Description
- Default Value
- Enabled
- Deprecated
- Policy Type
- Effective From
- Effective To
- XRefCode
Dependent on the field, the pick list might be predefined or might client-defined—this is identified in the HR Admin screen
Employment > Global Properties in People
In the People feature, you can assign global properties to employees in the Employment > Global Properties screen. When you select an option in the Property drop-down list, Dayforce automatically populates a description in the Description column. You can set effective start and end dates and select a value in the Value column.
Filtering options are available, and you can filter by active and historical global properties. The Integrated Countries client property, and the configuration of the data dictionaries in the HR Admin screen, controls this functionality.
