Fill Unfilled Shifts

In Centralized Schedules, you can fill a number of shifts at once using the fill unfilled shifts functionality. To use this functionality, you must set up staff assignment policies to specify the order that you want to pair employees with shifts. The fill unfilled shift algorithm then tries to pair up employees with unfilled shifts in the order specified in the staff assignment policy. See “Staff Assignment Policies” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Role feature access:  Schedules > Autofill Unfilled Shifts

To fill unfilled shifts:

  1. Go to Centralized Schedules and load a template.
  2. Expand the location grouping in your hierarchy, then expand the Employee section. Dayforce shows all of the employees who work at that location.
  3. Click Generate > Fill Unfilled.
  4. In the Location drop-down list, select the location that you want to fill unfilled shifts for.
  5. In the Ordering Policy drop-down list, select the policy that you want Dayforce to use when filling shifts. This determines the priority in which Dayforce schedules employees.
  6. In the Employee Selections and Shift Selections sections, use the selection lists to apply filters. For example, to fill shifts only for hourly employees on certain days, use the Pay Types and Days selection lists.
  7. Click OK.
