The Career Explorer feature uses the skills associated with a job assignment to find new opportunities and growth opportunities for employees. Skills are added automatically based on the job assignment title, job assignment description (if available) or job-level description, and existing job posting details. You can update these inferred skills or add new skills, as needed. Having an accurate list of required skills can help employees when they create career plans for a particular job assignment.
Add Skills to Job Assignments
To manually add skills to a job assignment:
- Go to Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments and click the Jobs and Job Assignments tab.
- In the left sidebar, find the job assignment that you want to add skills to.
- In the Skills section of the job assignment details:
- Click Add.
- In the Skill Name field, enter a search term and then select the skill that you want to add.
- In the Expected proficiency drop-down list, select the proficiency level required for the skill.
- Click Save. The Last Modified Date and Last Modified By fields are populated automatically when you save the skill.
For more information, see "Jobs and Job Assignments Configuration" in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.
Import or Export Job Assignment Skills
In Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments, you can import or export job assignment details, including the associated skills and proficiency levels.
Click Export > Export Job Assignments to generate a CSV file with job assignment details or click Import > Import Job Assignments to import a CSV file with job assignment details. Using the import option lets you add, update, or remove skills for multiple job assignments at once.
Both the import and export files list skills by their ESCO Skill GUID (globally unique identifier). If a proficiency level is available, the proficiency level ID is listed along with the skill’s GUID, separated by the vertical bar character. For example, the “Interview Techniques” skill with the “Advanced” proficiency level is shown as follows: 1F54FC64-4049-4520-BC44-C559B5FB0961|4.
If there are multiple skills for a job assignment, they’re listed in the Skills column separated by commas, without any spaces. For example: 1F54FC64-4049-4520-BC44-C559B5FB0961|4,d251c739-4653-4f1b-8475-0030a56453d5|2.
For the complete list of ESCO Skill GUIDs, see the ESCO Skills Reference Guide. For proficiency level IDs, see the following table.
Proficiency Level | ID |
---|---|
Basic knowledge | 1 |
Novice | 2 |
Intermediate | 3 |
Advanced | 4 |
Expert | 5 |
