Use the WFM (Workforce Management) to Payroll Mapping wizard to configure baseline mappings and link pay codes and/or pay categories in Workforce Management (WFM) to the appropriate earnings in payroll. This wizard simplifies the mapping process that occurs between the timesheet gross pay data and the earning definitions in payroll. It reduces the need to go back and forth between Activate and Dayforce to make sure that employees are paid correctly.
Note: For best results, Payroll and WFM Consultants should collaborate on completion of this wizard.
Before you begin
Note the following:
- The following must already be configured before you use this wizard:
- Pay codes
- Pay categories
- Pay category groups
- Earnings
- Pay policies
- Pay groups
- When you use this wizard to install new mappings, Activate deletes all existing mappings from the Dayforce pay group. This deletion removes the chance of duplicate mappings from different installations and avoids the possibility of leaving orphaned records.
Using this wizard
Activate lists all of the system and custom earnings that have been configured in Dayforce. Select an earning from the Earnings Available for Mapping list on the Summary page.
You must indicate whether the mapping applies to some or all pay groups. By default, Activate assumes that the mapping applies to all but users can select specific pay groups. When the pay group selection is made, users must select one or more pay codes and/or pay categories and whether they’re eligible or ineligible for the mapping.
Note: The pay code list is filtered based on the pay category selection. If you select a pay category and mark it as eligible, only pay codes assigned with that pay category show in the pay code drop-down list. If you select a pay category and mark it as ineligible, only pay codes that do not have that pay category assigned show in the pay code drop-down list.
On the Review page, you must download and review the reports and confirm that the information is correct. You can download the configuration summary reports individually or you can download them together in a .zip file.
The report includes the following information for each mapping:
- Earning Mapping Name
- Pay Codes Eligible
- Pay Codes Ineligible
- Pay Categories Eligible
- Pay Categories Ineligible
- Pay Groups
The report includes the following information for each mapping, per pay group:
- Mapping Summary
- Unmapped Pay Codes
- Unmapped Pay Categories
- Unmapped Earnings
- Possible Duplicate Mappings
You must select a checkbox at the bottom of the page to confirm that you’ve reviewed the reports and the configuration is correct before proceeding to the installation.
When the mapped earnings information is complete in Activate, install it in Dayforce. By default, Activate installs two mappings, identical aside from whether the mapping applies to the current pay period or to prior pay periods (Current and Retro).

Important: If someone is signed directly into Dayforce and is potentially applying manual configuration, Activate shows a warning at Done. Download the User report to follow up with the team members before continuing in the Activate wizard.
-
Click one of the following:
- Add Email and enter your email address to be notified when the installation process ends instead of waiting for it to finish.

Activate Central opens with the wizard name now in green text and a green checkmark next to it. The day, date, and time of completion show, along with your name as the user who completed the wizard. The environment in which the installation was applied (Stage, Config, or Train) is also shown.
At install, Dayforce shows the day, date, and time of completion. It also shows your name as the user who made the change to the pay group, in the Audit tab of the pay group setup. This information enables the tracking of who made changes and when.
