Testing Dashboard

Use the Testing Dashboard wizard to upload the status of the tests during the testing phases of the implementation. After you upload the tests, they’re stored in the Activate database. The Testing Dashboard gives a summary of how the testing is going.

Note: You can access the Testing Dashboard through Activate Central. You can also click the Profile menu () and click Testing Dashboard to access it.

Note: Test cases that were run in one environment reflect in the other environments.

Note: For comprehensive information about Dayforce, see the Dayforce Implementation Guide (DIG).

Each section of the Dashboard breaks down the cases as follows:

  • Total number of cases that have been executed (Passed + Failed + Not Executed)
  • Tests Passed
  • Tests Failed
  • Tests Not Executed

The three types of testing in the Dashboard are:

Manual tests

Done by the Implementation Consultants, manual tests are functional testing of unit test cases to capture the requirements and validate that the configuration is working according to the customer's requirements.

Scenarios

For the Day in the Life (DIL) testing that customers usually handle, scenarios are the end-to-end testing of different processes that validate that the configuration is working according to the customer's requirements.

Automated tests

Designed to exercise a wide range of inputs that can happen in the real world, automated testing has three components:

Set up and Run Tests

You can select from hundreds of tests that have predefined options for testing. Or, create a test from components. In this section, you can test either Entitlements or Timesheets. When you click Set Up and Run Tests, a page opens that shows all of the current existing tests. You can create new tests, if needed.

Review test results

If any test cases require more detail or further review, you can find them here. You can select an existing test to show the Scenario Group, the Test Description, the Test Parameters and the Test History. Any test here can also be edited, rerun, or deleted.

Clean up test data

You can select transactional and test data in the environment so you can delete and retest, as needed. Rerun as many times as needed, and compare the actual output with what you expected.

Using this page

When you download a file from any of the testing types (except the Automated Testing types), Activate creates Excel files that lay out test cases in a table format. There is a row for each test, and you can assign a status value (Passes, Failed, New Request, Not Required). After the file and tests are completed, you can return to the Testing Dashboard and upload to the appropriate Test Scenario to get a summary on how the testing is progressing.

If there the project has multiple phases, you can select the phase you are in at the top of the dashboard.

This section lists all current tests or all historical tests, and a count of the results (Passed, Failed, Needs Review, Errors) and whether the test data currently exists in Dayforce. If you select the test, the Wizard breaks out the test results in a line item format.
