Template Library
Important: This wizard is available for use by Dayforce and System Integration users only.
Use the Template Library wizard to select from a library of preconfigured templates and install them in Dayforce from a single location.
The wizard contains preconfigured templates and any associated dependencies. The templates will be tailored across regions, jurisdictions, and market verticals in future releases. You can filter template content by category and do simple searches in a future release. Activate handles the installation of any missing prerequisites for the selected templates so the templates function correctly after installation.
The file names of templates that you download from Activate begin with a prefix that is the Namespace that you’re logged in to. The same is true for the file names of ZIP files when you download multiple templates at the same time.
Installing benefit templates
You can install the same benefit template or bundle more than one time in a single template library workflow, so you can use a template or bundle for different iterations of plans or options. When you install a benefit plan more than one time from the Template Library, each plan and its associated options has a unique XRefCode. All installed copies of the benefit plan and options are added to the corresponding Plan Option Group.
Template bundles
You can bundle multiple templates of the same template type into a single library entity. Bundles are groupings of individual preconfigured templates that enable you to install multiple templates as a cohesive unit.
Note: Bundles currently apply only to North American benefits templates.
When you click a template bundle from the Template Library, details of the individual templates included in the bundle are shown so you can verify the contents of the bundle. When you select a template bundle to install, Activate installs all of the templates included in the bundle in Dayforce.
Note: You can use the Country category to search for benefit template bundles.
Preconfigured template bundles for North American benefits
To simplify the installation process, you can install preconfigured bundles of North American benefits templates. Preconfigured benefits bundles are assigned to the categories Bundle and Benefits.
Canadian template bundles
Canadian benefit templates are bundled in the following template groupings:
- CAN Basic Life & AD&D
- CAN LTD
- CAN Medical - 2 Tier
- CAN Medical - 4 Tier
- CAN Medical - All
- CAN Optional Life
- CAN STD

North American benefit templates are bundled in the following template groupings:
- US Basic Life and AD&D
- US Critical Illness
- US LTD
- US Medical 3 Tier
- US Medical 4 Tier
- US Medical - All
- US Voluntary Life
Messages: Error, Warning, and Information
Activate sorts each generated message by severity:
Error codes
Actively incompatible with the data in Dayforce. If you have a data error, you must resolve the error before you can complete the installation.
Warning codes
Indicate nonstandard setup that could potentially cause an error in Dayforce. For example, if an earning code is defined as Hours x Rate and the data is amount only, the system creates a warning. However, you can still import the data into the system.
Informational codes
A notable occurrence of data in the system. For example, an informational note shows if codes are dropped from the YTD import.
Tasks
To view the templates:
- In Activate Central, click Build Dayforce. The Build Dayforce wizards show.
- Click Template Library and the Template Library page opens.
The templates that you previously selected for installation show in the Templates section of the page. If you’re accessing the wizard for the first time, no templates show on the page.
- To see more information about the template, click in the row containing the template.
To select a template for installation:
- On the Template Library page, click Add New Template. The Let’s choose a template from the library page opens with the preconfigured templates listed in the center of the page.

To filter the templates, see To filter the templates shown on the page (below).

To select a template or bundle for installation, click Add to Cart next to the template or bundle name.
You can select:
After you make your selection, the Shopping Cart icon (
) shows in the top-right corner. A number indicates how many templates or bundles you’ve selected to install.

If you want to see which templates or bundles you’ve selected:
- Click the Shopping Cart icon (
). A flyout opens with your selected templates and bundles and how many of each you’ve selected for installation.
- Do any of the following:
- To change the number of templates or bundles to install, enter or select a new number in the Quantity field for the item.
- To remove a template or bundle from the Shopping Cart so it isn’t installed, click Delete (
) next to the item. - To select more templates or bundles for installation, click Keep Browsing. The flyout closes.
- To save the contents of the Shopping Cart, click Save Cart. The flyout window closes.

Click Done & Install at the bottom of the Template Library page. The selected templates and bundles are shown on the Template Library page.
To view the detail about a template or bundle:
- On the Template Library page, hover the mouse over the template or bundle name.
- Click Quick View button and the Quick View window opens in the center of the page. It contains the following information about the template:
- Template Name
- Template Description
- Included Options
- Additional metadata, such as Country, Product Area, and Version
- Review the information to verify that it’s correct.
- Click one of the following:
- Close to return to the Template Library page so you can make changes.
- Add to Cart to add the template or bundle to the cart.
To filter the templates shown on the page:
- On the Template Library page, click one of the following:
- Templates to show the previously selected templates.
- Installed Templates to show the templates that have been installed in Dayforce.

Only the templates that match the search criteria are shown.
Note: All templates that are available for selection are data driven, so you don’t have to enter a unique policy name to search for a template.

The templates that match the filters you used show in the center of the page. If you expand the template name, the template’s shortname, description, and additional metadata associated with the template are shown. The metadata helps you determine if the template fits your needs. To the right of each template name, the categories that the template belongs to are listed, such as Bundle, Benefits, and United States. These categories help you make an informed decision about whether the template fits your needs.
When you hover the mouse over a template or bundle, the Add to Cart and Quick View button show on the right side of the row containing the template or bundle.
To review the previously installed templates:
- On the Template Library page, click Installed Templates.
The names of the templates and bundles that you have already installed are listed.
- Click a template or bundle row to show descriptive information about it.
To install the templates in Dayforce:

On the Template Library page, click Done & Install.
A message lets you know that you're about to install additional templates. After they’re installed, you can update the templates directly in Dayforce.

Click Yes and the Install page opens with a list of the templates you selected for installation and an estimate of how long the installation usually takes. During the installation, the name of the template currently being installed shows in bold text so you can monitor the progress.
Note: Benefit Plan templates installed from the Template Library include the plan option Guaranteed Amounts and the related plan option groups.
If you click No, you return to the Template Library page.

Click one of the following:

Add Email and enter your email address to receive an email when the installation process ends, instead of waiting for it to finish.

Next when the installation is complete.
Activate installs the selected templates, along with the prerequisites for the templates and all underlying configuration. The description of each installed template is appended with your user name and the timestamp of the installation to help with future auditing.
