Activate keeps “snapshots“ or “versions“ of your Dayforce database at certain points in the configuration process. If you make a mistake or run into an impassable error during configuration, you might need to restore Dayforce and Activate back to a previous version. Use the Rollback feature to restore your database to any of the previous saved versions of your environment.
Snapshots of the database
The Restore Dayforce to a Previous Version page lists the saved snapshots of the environment (Stage, Configuration, or Train) where the action was performed. The snapshot is information that’s based on the wizards that have been completed in Activate Central. A grid lists the versions in chronological order, with the most recent snapshot at the top. The snapshot details include:
- Saved: The date the snapshot was saved. If you can recall on what dates you installed the different wizards, this information might help you determine which snapshot to rollback to.
- Save point: Indicates the point in the configuration when the snapshot was saved. When you select a Rollback version, Activate returns to that point in the configuration process.
For example, if your Getting Started installation has a problem, you might need to Rollback to a version of Activate before Getting Started was implemented. If a line in the table shows “Before Getting Started Installation,” this information would be the appropriate snapshot to Rollback. Then, you can restore the environment to a version of the database that hasn’t yet installed Getting Started.
- Version: Each snapshot is assigned a version number. The version numbers are listed in chronological order, with the most recent at the top. Version 1 is Start Over and resets the entire environment.
You can’t use an automated process to restore information that a Rollback has erased. Make sure that you select the correct version so you don’t accidentally lose valuable data.
Note: You can only Rollback actions that were made in the environment that you’re currently logged in to. For example, configurations completed in the Stage environment aren’t enabled for a Rollback in the Config environment. Any actions made in a different instance of Activate show but are deactivated.
Tasks
To rollback to a previous version:
- In the Profile menu (
), click Rollback Activate and Dayforce.
The Restore Dayforce to a Previous Version page opens.
- In the Saved column, select the radio button for the snapshot you want to Rollback to.
Important: If you need to reset the Activate instance, select the Start Over save point for Rollback.
- At the bottom of the page, select the following checkboxes:
- I have verified that the information above is correct
- I acknowledge that all changes in Dayforce after the save point date will be lost
You’re confirming that the information that you selected is correct and any progress made after your selected save point will be lost.
Important: It’s best practice to save a backup of your environment before running a Rollback. When you Rollback to a point before a specific installation, the environment rolls back to that point.
- Click Restore. The Rollback starts and a warning states not to close your browser. When the Rollback is complete, you return to the point before the Rollback.
Note: When the Rollback is complete, Activate might place you in the middle of a wizard that was in progress earlier. If you don’t want to complete the wizard now, click Quit Progress & Go Back to Central in the Profile menu (
).
