The Review and Load Installation page shows a summarized list of the elements to be configured and loaded in the new Dayforce environment. It also gives an estimate of how long the installation takes. Activate runs a series of processes to configure and install the Dayforce settings based on the previously loaded data.
You can choose to receive an email when the installation process ends instead of waiting for it to finish.
During the installation, the current step in the process shows in bold text so you can monitor the progress.

Functionality installed by the Getting Started wizard
The Getting Started wizard configures the foundational elements of the Dayforce environment. The wizard uses four data imports to load the employees into the system. After you complete Getting Started, the Dayforce environment will have the following configured functionality:
- Core HR
- WFM
- Pay
Creates the pay groups based on the Country, Pay frequency, and next pay period start date entered in the Employee Data file.
Activate creates unique pay groups based on the combination of Country, Pay Frequency, and Next Pay Period Start Date.

- Configures the Password Policy.
- Configures certain background jobs.
- Configures some Basic Payroll Configuration: Earnings, Deductions, Check Types, Deduction Accumulator (401(k), RRSP), Payroll Policy.
- Configures new Role (Dayforce Super User) and modifies Features and Authorizations for the role-Customer Administrator Role.
- Updates some of the preexisting pay codes.
- Configures new Pay Categories and Pay Codes dependent on the country and customer segment.
- Configures the Pay Policies.
- Updates Pay Holidays based on Country, State, or Province.
- Configures Basic Time Entry Policies (Hourly, Salaried, CA).
- Configures Basic Time-to-Pay Earning Mappings (Pay Setup > Pay Group > Payroll Mappings).
- Configures basic Workflow Forms (for example, Hiring, Termination). Also configures workflows (for example, Direct Manager, No Approval) based on the customer segment and wizards selected.
- Configured TAFW using Workflows and Actionable Messages.
- Configures Relationship types for Benefits and Emergency Contacts.
- Configures minimum wage information for North American and UK customers.
- Configures basic Data Mapping Rules (for example, Assign Default Seniority Date).
- Enables the Account Recovery Assistant.
- Installs the HR Data Validation Export definition.
Configures Shift Rotations and assigns them to Employees (basic Mon-Fri work schedule).
Creates Time Off Policy (Default) with some predefined configuration. For example, Exclude closed days from TAFW: Saturday and Sunday, Primary Hours Calculation: Shift Rotation, Secondary Hours Calculation: Average Daily Hours, Tertiary Hours Calculation: Normal Weekly Hours, Quaternary Hours Calculation: Specified Hours.
Creates user accounts for customer administrators and assigns the appropriate user roles.
Loads the Config Data import file to configure Jobs, Departments, Pay Classes, and so on.
Loads the OrgUnit Import file to configure the Org Hierarchy.
Loads the HR Import file containing all employees with associated policy assignments.
Note: Activate sets the badge record effective start date to the employee's original hire date.
Creates legal entities and assigns them to sites.
Creates Roles based on Customer Type and Portfolio.

Activate installs the Configuration Audits folder in Data & Analytics > Reporting > Reports during Getting Started. The following roles can access this folder: Dayforce System Administrator, Dayforce Administrator, Client Administrator, Customer Admin, HR Admin, MS Client Admin, MS Client HR Admin, and MS Client Benefits Admin roles. The Getting Started wizard triggers the setting for the auto generation of year-end forms and reports as part of the installation process. To accommodate year end processing, these forms and reports will be generated each January.
Tasks
Adding your email enables you to leave the installation page and receive an email notification when the job has been completed.
- Click Add Email.
- Enter your email address.
Note: If you want to enter more than one email address, click Add Another Email and enter the additional email address. You can’t enter multiple email addresses in the same field.
- Click Done.
Results
Dayforce uses the data uploaded by the Getting Started wizard and configures the foundational elements in the corresponding Dayforce environment. When this initial configuration is complete, Activate Central opens the Build Dayforce wizard for completion. A blue icon flashes next to the Build Dayforce wizard, indicating that it’s the current step in the implementation process.
Note: The recommended best practice Schedule Rule, Schedule Change, and Shift Trading policies are installed in Dayforce. The rules are set to Inactive by default.
The Getting Started wizard shows under Build Dayforce in green text with a green checkmark to the left of it. The day, date, and time of completion show, along with the name of the user who completed the wizard.
The MS - Benefits Election Changes report is installed.
You can click View Installed Dayforce Elements to view a report of the installed elements. You can download the Activate Summary report as many times as desired during the implementation process.
Important: For System Integrators: In System Admin > System Notifications in Dayforce, the Payroll Administrator, Client Administrator, and the System Admin roles are automatically subscribed to the Late Payroll Reminder alert and the Legal entity Payroll Tax alert. These alerts notify them when they’re late to commit and when a new tax authority is added. In addition, in System Admin > Background Jobs > Scheduled Jobs, the job required to initiate the late payroll alerts is scheduled in the Pre-Production environment. When a Pre-Production environment is promoted to Production. these settings are persisted into the Production environment.
Activate installs a standardized HR Export called HR Data Validation Export during Getting Started. This export gives a snapshot of employee HR data for audits and verifications throughout the project life cycle. You can run it as an HR Export background job with the desired date and get the CSV file from the FTP folder, whenever you need to. You can tweak the definition in Dayforce on System Admin > Export Definitions, if needed.
After completing the Organizational Hierarchy wizard, three import files are automatically generated and placed on the customer's FTP site.

Next steps
After you complete the Review & Load page and click Next, Activate automatically starts configuring the new system environment. When the installation is complete, Activate Central opens.
You can do any of the following:
- In Build Dayforce, click View Report under Getting Started to view the summary of the installation. You can save the report to your computer, if needed.
- Set up pay groups by selecting Pay Group Editor in Build Dayforce.
- Exit Activate by selecting Logout in the Profile menu.
