In Dayforce, the pay type is a part of the employee profile that is used to categorize employees based on how they’re paid.
You must map the different pay types into Hourly or Salary categories. These categories have implications regarding how Activate configures Dayforce and assigns employees to various attributes. The pay types populated in the Employee file are shown on this page. Activate automatically assigns the uploaded pay types to the types if the pay types provided are commonly named.
You can drag the items to different categories, as needed. Items that aren’t assigned to a category show in the Uncategorized category. You can filter the Uncategorized category to search for additional categories and map them accordingly.

Pay type categories
Hourly
Hourly employees are paid based on hourly rate or “rate x hours.“
Salary
Salary employees are paid based on a set annual salary. Salary employees are often paid using Auto-Pay because their regular pay is usually on a static payout. For example, Bi-Weekly employees are paid out 80 Regular hours every pay period.
