Mass Configuration Changes
Use the Mass Configuration Changes wizard to update common fields easily. Examples of fields you can update include names, reference codes, ledger codes, and clock codes for all records at one time. To update the fields, select the table/entity and the specific fields to update. Then, Activate shows all of the records in that table/entity in a data grid where you can edit the values directly.
Another way to update the fields is to download the data in the grid as an Excel file, make the necessary updates to the fields, and then upload the file back into Activate.
Note: You probably need to make mass configuration changes at several points during the implementation process. You can use this wizard whenever needed until the end of the implementation.

Errors, warnings, and messages
The rules set up in Dayforce generate any Error or Warning indicators shown above the grid's column headings.
- Errors prevent you from continuing with the Wizard.
- Warnings are informational and indicate potential problems that you need to be aware of.
- Messages are informational and identify a deviation from the rules.
To refer to the errors, warnings, and messages while you correct the data, click Download Errors File.
To correct the errors, messages, or warnings, do one of the following:
- Update the information directly in the grid.
- Click Download Errors File to download the list and then upload an Excel file containing the corresponding corrections.
Whether you edit the data directly in the grid or upload the file, Activate shows validation warnings or errors to indicate problems with the data. To review and correct any warnings or errors that display, either edit the records in the grid or upload the corrected information in a template again.
Enter the required changes in the Excel document to ensure that future uploads are accurate. If you make edits directly in the grid, click Download File and save the updated file for record keeping.
Validations
If no records exist in a particular entity/table, Activate grays out and deactivates the entity/table option because no records can be updated.
The data grid populates with “active” records only. A record in the table/entity is considered “active” when:
- Today's date is greater than or equal to the Effective Start date and
- Less than or equal to the Effective End date assigned to that record in Dayforce.
Activate shows a warning when a current value exists in a field but the new value in the grid or the uploaded file is blank. Activate replaces the existing value with a blank when the data is loaded to Dayforce.
You can’t upload nonunique XRefCodes in any of the entities/tables. An error shows if nonunique XRefCodes are populated. You can use alphanumeric characters along with the specific special characters in the following new field columns:
- Alphanumeric Characters
- Dashes
- Underscores
- Periods
- Colons
- Open parenthesis
- Closed parenthesis
- Back slash
- Forward slash
