Added the ability to end-date balance periods. Now, you can configure specific end-date entitlements and recurrences so that Dayforce ends balance periods for balances that you’re phasing out or want to pay out on a specific date. This functionality is useful for paying out a terminated employee’s remaining balance, or paying out or transferring balances when employees change their entitlement policy assignments.
To support this functionality, the following updates were made in Dayforce:
- The Last Day in Policy start date type was added in Pay Setup > Entitlements in the Recurrences tab, in the Start Date Type drop-down list. You can configure this start date type to trigger recurrences on the last date that an entitlement policy is effective. With a recurrence that runs when an entitlement policy becomes ineffective, you can pay out or transfer the remaining balance just as the employee’s new entitlement policy assignment becomes effective, depending on your entitlement rule configuration.
When you configure an entitlement’s rollover or proration recurrence in Pay Setup > Entitlements in the Entitlements tab, you can’t select a recurrence that’s configured with the Last Day in Policy start date type.
- The End Date Balance Period checkbox was added in Pay Setup > Entitlements in the Entitlements tab. In the slide-out panel that opens after you click an entitlement, this setting is located in the Rules and Qualifiers section when you select a ruleset in the hierarchy. Select this checkbox to end-date the entitlement’s balance period the next time that the entitlement rule engine processes.
- The Balance Amount Payout Rule was added in Pay Setup > Entitlements in the Entitlements tab. This new entitlement rule is similar to the Balance Carry Over Rule but doesn’t require that you create new balance periods to trigger balance payouts or transfers.
You can also end-date balance periods using the Employee Entitlement Balance Import, which was updated to support this new functionality (see WFM-50675).
