Organization Designer

Dayforce Release Notes version 2024.2.1

Version
R2024.2.1

HR-20505, HR-20618, HR-20636, HR-20799

Added the ability to assign a second employee to occupy a position whose current occupant has an expected vacancy date. You can use this new functionality when an employee has resigned and their replacement starts before they leave. It allows for a transition period for training and knowledge transfer. When overfill is supported for a position, you can assign a second employee to an occupied position as long as the position doesn't have a future occupant.

Note: This new feature is available only in the new user interface, which is enabled using the Enable New Organization Designer UI client property.

To support this functionality, a new Support Overfill switch was added in the Occupants tab of the position panel:

The switch is available only when a date is entered in the Expected Vacancy Date field, and the date is the same as or later than the date selected in Organization Designer.

As part of this update, the Position drop-down list in forms was updated so that it shows positions when they have an open space due to overfill.

HR-20533

Added the ability to change a position’s parent (managing) position in the position panel. Previously, you had to use drag-and-drop to move positions, and this method could cause difficulty in organizations with large numbers of positions. All users who have access to update a position can now update its parent position in the position panel.

Note: This new feature is available only in the new user interface, which is enabled using the Enable New Organization Designer UI client property.

To support this functionality, a new Change Parent button was added in the Supervisory Details section of the Information > Relationships tab:

The Change Parent button.

To change a position’s parent position:

  1. Go to Organization Designer > Positions.
  2. In the toolstrip, select the date that the new relationship starts.
  3. Click the position whose managing position you want to change.
  4. In the position panel, go to the Information > Relationships tab.
  5. Click Change Parent.
  6. In the Parent Position drop-down list, select the position’s new manager. The list shows positions that you have access to and that are eligible to be the new manager. It doesn’t include the position you’re editing and those under it in the hierarchy.
  7. Click Change.
  8. In the toolstrip, click Save.

After you save your changes, the position you updated moves to its new location in the hierarchy.

As part of this update, a new View All button was also added in the Information > Relationships tab. Click View All to see the position’s current, past, and future managers.
