Added a refreshed and updated user interface for the position panel in Organization Designer > Positions. The new look and feel of the position panel aligns with the design of other screens in Dayforce, and it improves accessibility for all users.
Now, the main tabs in the position panel are located on the left side of the panel, and the sub-tabs are shown horizontally near the top of the panel. The following screenshot shows a portion of the panel with the new tabs highlighted:
The following main tabs are on the left side:
- Information (
): Contains the configuration details for the position. In the Details sub-tab, you can see and edit information such as name and reference numbers. On the Relationships sub-tab, you can see which positions manage, supervise, and report to the position. On the Job Information sub-tab, you can see and update job assignment and business unit details, and active locations for the position.
- Occupants (
): On this tab, you can see details about employees who occupy the position now, in the past, or in the future. It can contain the following sub-tabs, depending on which occupants the position has: Current, Interim, Past, Future. You can update the current occupant of the position.
- Audit (
): Shows a history of changes that were made to the position, including who made the change, when they made the change, and what they changed.
When you add a position, the fields you need to fill in are shown in one single view of the panel. The tabs described previously show after you save the position.
The following table describes some of the highlights of the new position panel.
New position panel highlights
Update information |
Click the Edit button to make updates in the position panel. Previously, you could edit fields as soon as you opened the panel. This new action helps you to avoid making accidental changes. |
View past and future job assignments |
Click View All to see past and future job assignment and location information. Previously, you could see only job assignments as of the date selected in Organization Designer. You had to change the date to see past and future assignments. |
Remove occupant |
Click the action menu next to the employee you want to remove from the position and select Remove. Previously, a Remove Occupant button was shown under the employee’s name. |
Error and information messages |
Improved error and information messages provide a more user-friendly experience. For example, when you’re creating a position, you can see any validation errors and click the message to go to the field that has the error. |
Buttons always shown |
Buttons such as Add Occupant are now always present, even when the action is unavailable. When you try to do an action that’s unavailable, a message tells you why you can’t do that. Previously, some buttons weren’t shown on the panel if their action wasn’t available, and this absence could cause confusion. |
The updated design is not enabled by default, and you can switch to the new experience when your organization is ready. Administrators can enable the new user interface for their organization in System Admin > Client Properties. In the Position Management section, select the Enable New Organization Designer UI checkbox.
Note: The client property also enables the new, redesigned business unit panel. See HR-20765.
