Pay Setup
ID Description
PSCI-124

Added the ability for Dayforce to automatically update base rates in People based on hourly job step progression. Previously, only salaried job step values could affect an employee’s base rate in their employee profile. Now, you can configure Dayforce to update the Base Rate field in People automatically (in the Employment > Employment Settings screen, in the Employment Status tab) for employees with hourly job step value changes. To support this update, the Pay Rate Type section was added in Pay SetupJob Rate in the Job Rates tab. This section contains two options: Hourly and Salaried. When you add a new job rate, click the appropriate option to configure its rate type.

Further, added the ability to control whether Dayforce automatically updates base rates in People based on job step progression. To support this functionality, the Update Employee Record switch was added in Pay SetupJob Rate in the Job Rates tab. Enable the switch and Dayforce automatically updates the Base Rate field in People when there are job step value changes. You can configure this functionality for both hourly and salaried job step value changes.

For more information, see “Add Job Sets” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

PSCI-150

Added the ability to pay guaranteed earning premiums using the appropriate job rate in scenarios where an employee’s primary job isn’t detected by Dayforce’s pay rule engine. This update was made to support scenarios where pay policies are configured with both the Weekly Guarantee and Apply Job Step Policy rules. To ensure that employees are paid using the job rate they earned through their job rate progression, the Apply Job Step Policy Rule needs to capture every instance in which that job rate is applied. This includes the employee’s shift details for time worked, and any pay adjustments or premiums that they earned. In some cases, premiums generated by the Weekly Guarantee Rule don’t include the employee’s primary work assignment, which can affect the job rate calculated by the Apply Job Step Policy Rule. The Apply Job Step Policy Rule relies on the details outlined in the employee’s work assignment to retrieve the premium rate. In this scenario, if the rule can’t detect a work assignment, Dayforce can’t properly compare rates and apply the correct rate.

Now, you can configure the Apply Job Step Policy Rule to pay employees using the rate that’s calculated through their job rate progression when a work assignment is missing in the Weekly Guarantee Rule. To support this update, the Default Job Set Rate drop-down list was added to the Apply Job Step Policy Rule in Pay SetupPay Policy. Use the drop-down list to select which rate type the rule applies to guaranteed premiums that are generated by the Weekly Guarantee Rule. The options are: Base Rate and PrimaryWorkAssignment. Base Rate is selected by default and represents the functional behavior that existed before this update.

Updated the rules listed in Pay SetupPay Policy in the Rules Configuration tab so that the first rule in the ruleset is highlighted by default when you filter pay rules and qualifiers.

WCI-5248

Added the ability to adjust the hours or rate shown in the pay summary to be consistent with the hours or rate in the final pay amount calculated by the Average Payment Rule. To support this update, the Adjust pay summary hours/rate to match pay amount checkbox was added to the Average Payment Rule in Pay Setup > Pay Policy. When selected, the rule recalculates the hours or rate in the pay summary to the hours or rate that correspond with the pay amount.

Note that whether this setting recalculates the hours or rate depends on the selection made in the Rate lookup drop-down list:

  • For time-based pay adjustments, such as those that are derived from balance rates, the hours in the pay summary are recalculated to match with the pay amount. This applies when the Rate lookup selection is Rate from Balances.
  • For amount-based pay adjustments, such as those that are derived from pay rates, the rate in the pay summary is recalculated to match with the pay amount. This applies when the Rate lookup selection is Base Rate, Alternate Rate, Vacation Rate, or Average OT Rate.

For more information, see “Average Payment Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Added the ability to use an employee's base rate if their vacation, alternate or average overtime rates aren't configured in Dayforce. This applies when employees select the Vacation Rate, Alternate Rate or Average OT Rate options in the Rate lookup drop-down list in the Average Payment Rule in Pay Setup > Pay Policy.

To support this update, the Use Base Rate if Vacation, Alternate, or Average OT Rate is not configured checkbox was added to the Average Payment Rule. When selected, Dayforce uses the base rate when the rule can’t find an alternate, vacation, or average overtime rate for the employee.

For more information, see “Average Payment Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.
