Release Date

Pay Setup
ID Description

Added the ability to hide balances that are associated with inactive entitlement policies. With this functionality configured, employees that are assigned a new entitlement policy won’t have older, inactive balances shown in their list of active balances throughout Dayforce.

To support this update, the For inactive entitlement policies only switch was added in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Hide Balance section. Click the switch so that the associated balance is hidden for the configured roles only if it’s associated with inactive entitlement policies.

This functionality also applies to roles that are configured for employee self-service (that is, roles with the ESS Role checkbox selected in System AdminRoles in the General tab).

For more information, see “Hide Balances from Roles” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Before You Begin: This feature is available only for organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Updated Dayforce’s Long Service Leave (LSL) accrual engine to evaluate whether employees are entitled to weekly LSL accruals using their continuous employment date. Now, the application uses the date marked in the Continuous Employment Start Date section of your employees’ profiles in People to determine if entitlement rules that affect LSL accruals should run. The Continuous Employment Start Date section is located in the Employment > Employment, Compensation and Policy Settings screen in the Key Information tab.

Note: The Continuous Employment Start Date section in People is available only for employees who are assigned to an Australian or New Zealand pay group.

For example, after this update, an entitlement rule that affects LSL won’t run for any dates that fall outside of your employees’ continuous employment periods.

Added the ability to add a new rule or qualifier after a specific rule in the Rules Configuration slide-out panel in Pay Setup > Pay Policy. Previously, when you added new rules and qualifiers, they would be placed at the end of the ruleset. Now, you can select a rule and create a new rule or qualifier right after it without needing to manually move it up.

To support this update, the following drop-down list options have been renamed when a user clicks the add icon in the Rules Configuration slide-out panel and there is an existing rule in a ruleset:

Old Name New Name
Rule Rule below selected item
Qualifier

Qualifier below selected item

For more information, see “Add Rules to Pay Policies” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Added the ability to include or exclude projects when configuring the Worked Minutes Qualifier. To support this update, the Projects Eligible and Projects Ineligible settings were added to the Worked Minutes Qualifier in Pay SetupPay Policy.

For more information, see “Worked Minutes Qualifier” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Added the ability to set minimum wages by city or county. Previously, users could set minimum wages only by country or state. Now, users can configure Dayforce to set minimum wages by country, state, city, and county.

To support this functionality, the following updates have been made:

  • Added the City and County options to the Minimum Wage Level drop-down list in the Min Wage Split Pay Adjustment Rule in Pay Setup > Pay Policy.
  • Updated the Minimum Wage Level drop-down list functionality so that the options follow a hierarchy in the order of Federal, State, City, and County. For example, if you select City in this setting, but there isn't any city configured in Pay Setup > Minimum Wages, the rule will consider the state as that option comes before it in the hierarchy.
  • Added the City and County drop-down lists to Pay Setup > Minimum Wages.

Note: For this functionality to work properly, the Apply Minimum Wage client property should be selected in System Admin > Client Properties in the Properties tab, in the Time and Attendance section. Also, the applicable tip type group needs to be assigned to the employee's work assignment in People in the Work > Work Assignments screen using the Tip Type Group drop-down list.

For more information, see “Min Split Pay Adjustment Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Fixed an issue in Pay Setup > Job Rate where, in some cases, duplicate job rates were created. Previously, there was no way to prevent updating the configurations in the Job Rates tab for existing job rates in the Job Step Policy tab. Now, Dayforce shows an error message in the Problems panel in the Job Rates tab for any job rates that are already configured in the Job Step Policy tab.

1299088

Added the ability to prevent certain entitlement rules from updating the balance records on an employee's termination date. This feature was created for the New Zealand Holidays Act that requires balances to calculate the payout figure on termination. To support this update, the Do not update on termination checkbox was added in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Options section. When this setting is enabled, the entitlement rules don’t update the balance record on a termination date.

For more information, see “Balance Settings” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Updated the Worked Previous Shift Qualifier and Worked Next Shift Qualifier so that they can be configured to include rest days. To support this update, the Include worked on Rest Days setting was added to the Worked Previous Shift Qualifier and Worked Next Shift Qualifier in Pay SetupPay Policy.

For more information, see “Worked Previous Shift Qualifier” and “Worked Next Shift Qualifier” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Before You Begin: This feature is available only for organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Added a new qualifier that restricts entitlement rules to run only on dates that Dayforce determines to be otherwise working days. An otherwise working day is a day that an employee would typically be scheduled to work if it wasn’t a public holiday or leave day. Some regions, such as Australia and New Zealand, have specific otherwise working day requirements.

To support this update, the Otherwise Working Day Qualifier was added in Pay SetupEntitlements in the Entitlements tab.

Dayforce evaluates whether otherwise working days exist in a period using the Calculate Otherwise Work Day Dates background job. See item 1471564 in this document.

For more information, see “Otherwise Working Day Qualifier” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Added the ability to hide balances by default and override hidden balances for specific employees. This functionality was added to hide balances that are used exclusively for calculation purposes, with the added ability to override their hidden state in cases where calculations need to be viewed and reconciled.

To support this functionality, the following updates were made in Dayforce:

  • The Hidden By Default checkbox was added in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Options section. Select this checkbox to hide the associated balance by default in employees’ profiles in People in the Work > Balances screen.
  • The Include Hidden Balances checkbox was added in People in the Work > Balances screen, in the Actual Balances section. Select this checkbox to override any balances that are hidden for the employee. When this checkbox is selected, any balances assigned to the employee that were configured with the Hidden By Default checkbox selected become visible.
  • Important: This checkbox applies only to balances that are configured with the Hidden By Default checkbox selected. It doesn’t apply to balances that were configured to be hidden from specific roles (that is, the functionality in Pay Setup > Balances in the Balances tab, in the Hide Balance section).

For more information, see:

  • “Balance Settings” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.
  • “Override Hidden Balances” in the Manager Guide.

Updated the Last Modified Time and Last Modified By columns in Pay Setup > Pay Policy to show changes made to pay rules and qualifiers. Previously, Dayforce showed information in these columns for the changes made only to the pay policy, but now it has been updated to also include changes made to the pay rules and qualifiers for each pay policy.

1395559

Fixed an issue where if a TAFW process override was active and a scheduled shift that crossed midnight had a partial day leave after midnight, the Pay Time Away Scheduled Rate Rule didn’t work correctly. To resolve this issue, the Include partial day TAFW from subsequent day when Scheduled Shift spans midnight setting was added to the Pay Time Away Scheduled Rate Rule in Pay Setup > Pay Policy.

For more information, see “Pay Time Away Scheduled Rate Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

1475950

Before You Begin: This feature is available only for organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Added the ability to dictate how employees accrue Long Service Leave (LSL) balances. To support this update, the LSL Service Period Accrual Rule was added in Pay SetupEntitlements in the Entitlements tab. This rule examines employees’ LSL policies and evaluates whether they’re eligible to continue accruing LSL balances or whether they’ve reached their limit for the year.

For more information, see “LSL Service Period Accrual Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Added the ability to round up, midway, or down when rounding the grant amount in the Frequency Grant Accrual Rule and Frequency Grant Reset Rule in Pay Setup > Entitlements. Previously, the grant amount could only be rounded up using the Round Up setting and was calculated using the formula configured in the Rounding Formula setting. Now, the following settings have been added to both rules that can be configured to round the grant amount up, midway, or down to the nearest decimal place:

  • Rounding Direction
  • To The Nearest

Note: To keep the existing configuration for users that have the rules set up using the old configuration of Round Up and Rounding Formula settings, those settings are being kept as is. However, new users should configure grant rounding using one of the two methods. For example, either use the combination of the Round Up and Rounding Formula settings or the Rounding Direction and To The Nearest settings. All four of these settings configured together will result in an incorrect calculation.

For more information, see “Frequency Grant Accrual Rule” and “Frequency Grant Reset Rule” in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.
