Release Date

Multifactor Authentication
ID Description

583495

Added the ability to control which verification methods can be used for Multifactor Authentication (MFA). To support this update, the Allowed identity verification methods field was added to the MFA Configuration tab in System Admin > Multifactor Authentication. Now, administrators can customize the available MFA options that best fit their security preferences. At least one identity verification is required in each enabled policy. Changes will not be applied to previously registered users until they change their MFA preferences or are forced to re-register. By default, the allowed options are:

  • Authy Mobile App: Users can set up MFA using the Authy smartphone application. Authy can either send an approval request to their mobile device through a push notification or generate a 7-digit token that they use to log in to Dayforce.
  • SMS/Voice Call: Users can set up MFA using their mobile device. A 6-digit code will be sent to their mobile device through either a text message or a voice call.
  • Authenticator App: Users can set up MFA using an authenticator application of their choice.

Added the ability to set up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) with a time-based one-time password that is delivered through an authenticator app. To support this update, an option to use an authenticator app was added to the Set up Multifactor Authentication screen in Dayforce. Now, you can set up a time-based one-time password as your MFA method with an authenticator app of your choice. If you are logging in to Dayforce for the first time, you can select the Authenticator App Code verification method when prompted in the Set up Multifactor Authentication screen. Your authenticator app will then show a time-based verification code which you can enter into Dayforce to complete the set up. Additionally, if you already have a registered MFA method, you can now re-register to the authenticator app by navigating to the Multifactor Authentication section of the Security screen in Profile > Profile Menu > Settings.

For more information, see "Multifactor Authentication" in the Dayforce Implementation Guide.

Note: Both MFA and the authenticator app verification method must be enabled for your organization by an administrator.
