In the previous Activate release (2024.2.0), we introduced new variants of the Payroll Deduction Codes and Payroll Earning Codes wizards. These wizards include templates that focus on common Dayforce configuration options and don’t require any employee data. However, the initial release of these wizards was only available to projects set up for Preceda ANZ customers.
We’re pleased to announce that access to these new wizards is now available for all projects with a pay group in Australia, New Zealand, or Asia. A suffix of “(Asia Pacific)” has been added to the wizard names differentiates them from the original guided process wizards.
The Payroll Earning Codes (Asia Pacific) wizard enables users to upload data seamlessly, and validate and import new Payroll Earning Codes into Dayforce efficiently and in a single operation. The Activate template provides fields for the most common global configuration options for earning codes, with additional fields to support legislative requirements for Australian Single Touch Payroll and Singapore IR8A Reporting.
The wizard manages all appropriate validations and error handling. It enables the Payroll IC and SI Partners to use the data gathered in the Payroll Discovery Workbook during customer workshops to bulk load new codes.
You can access the new Payroll Earning Codes (Asia Pacific) wizard in Build Dayforce, above the original guided Payroll Deduction Codes wizard.
After opening the wizard, users see an introductory page that features key information for review. Before continuing with the file data load, users must confirm that all prerequisite configurations are set up in Dayforce:
Important: This wizard doesn’t create pay groups, custom earning groupings, or payout balances. They must be set up ahead of time.
Users can download a data template that contains comprehensive instructions on how to collect both the mandatory and supplementary fields required by Dayforce for new payroll earning codes. The data template can be downloaded from the wizard, or from the Download Template Files page that is accessed from the top-right Profile menu.
When the template file has been loaded, the data is visible in an editable grid. Users can edit information directly in the grid or they can download the Payroll Earning Codes Data template, make the necessary updates, and then upload the modified data.
When editing in the grid, Activate shows any pertinent validation warnings or errors promptly. Prompt-lists show the available options for some fields, including any configuration that already exists in the customer’s Dayforce instance. If any warnings or errors show, it’s important to review the data diligently and update the data directly in the grid or upload a corrected template.
After successful installation, go to the Dayforce Payroll Setup > Earning & Deduction Codes page and click the Earnings tab to access the data.
The Payroll Deduction Codes (Asia Pacific) wizard mirrors the behavior detailed above for the Payroll Earning Codes (Asia Pacific) wizard. The only difference is a reduced number of template fields. Configuration of deductions is less complicated than earnings.
