The existing Payroll Earning Codes and Payroll Deduction Codes wizards in Build Dayforce use the templates for containing employee Payroll Elections and Year to Date data to install all of the required codes in Dayforce. You then follow a guided workflow of multiple pages to map the data to the relevant Dayforce settings, and load the new codes into the customer’s Dayforce instance. ANZ region rarely uses the data set required for these wizards because they have no requirement to load Year to Date data and gathering this data from customers is very time consuming. The preexisting wizards don’t accommodate the many configuration settings required for the ANZ region. As a result, a large amount of time has been spent manually creating and refining these codes directly in Dayforce.
To help with the migration of Preceda ANZ customers to Dayforce, we’re introducing new versions of the Payroll Earning Codes and Payroll Deduction Codes wizards. These new wizards will replace the existing workflow when the following settings have been applied on the Activate Setup page:
- Opportunity Type: Ascender
- Ascender Migration Type: Preceda
For all other Opportunity Types or Ascender Migration Types, the preexisting behavior, which requires the Payroll Election and Year to Date templates remain in place.
With the Preceda Payroll Earning Codes Wizard, users can seamlessly upload, validate, and import new Payroll Earning Codes into Dayforce, efficiently and in a single operation. The Activate template is designed to specifically include the most common configuration options for Earning codes, plus the settings required for Single Touch Payroll reporting in Australia. This wizard then manages all of the appropriate error handling, which enables users to use the data gathered in the Payroll Discovery Workbook during customer workshops to bulk load new codes to bulk load new codes.
Users can access the Payroll Earning Codes Wizard in Build Dayforce:
After opening the wizard, the Intro page contains key information for review. To continue, click the checkbox to confirm that all of the prerequisite configurations are set up in Dayforce.
Important: Pay Groups, Custom Earning Groupings and Payout Balances aren’t created as part of this wizard. They must be set up ahead of time.
Users can download a data template that contains complete instructions. The template collects both the mandatory and the supplementary fields that are required by Dayforce for the Payroll Earning Codes. Users can download the new data template from the wizard or from the Download All Templates page, which is located in the Profile menu in the top-right corner of the page.
After loading the data file, the data shows in an editable grid. You can edit the data directly in the grid or you can download the Payroll Earning Codes Data template, make the necessary updates, and then upload the modified template.
When editing the grid, Activate promptly shows any pertinent validation warnings or errors. The field drop-downs show the options available on the fields, including any configuration that already exists in the customer’s Dayforce instance. If any warnings or errors are shown, it’s crucial that you review and address them by updating the data directly in the grid or uploading a corrected template.
After successful installation, go to Payroll Setup > Earning & Deduction Codes in Dayforce and select the Earnings tab to see the data.
The Preceda Payroll Deduction Codes Wizard mirrors the behavior detailed above for the Preceda Payroll Earning Codes Wizard. The only difference is that there’s a reduced number of fields in the template because deductions aren’t as complicated as earnings.
